Colorado Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction

Thursday night’s hockey action looks to be exciting, with teams ramping up after the All-Star break.

To get things started, we have the Colorado Avalanche taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning. Colorado enters play with the second most points in the Central Division and in third place in the entire Western Conference. They’ve achieved this with what many argue to be the best offence in hockey.

They have 202 goals on the season, ranking first in the Western Conference and the entire NHL. Their ability to score goals makes them tougher to beat than anybody in hockey, but Colorado has still had its struggles throughout the season.

They’re going to be put to the test against a Scott Alexander Tampa Bay team that can defend better than any other team in the league. The Lightning have had their struggles throughout the season, being just a plus-eight gold differential team, but Andrei Vasilevskiy has been playing better recently and looks to continue doing so.

However, given some of the struggles from Tampa Bay this season, the safer pick here seems to be the Avalanche.

Edmonton Oilers vs. St. Louis Blues Betting Tips

The Edmonton Oilers’ early season struggles were flipped as the team won nearly 20 straight games. Their winning streak ended when they lost to the Vegas Golden Knights, but they still won eight out of their last 10 games and will look to continue doing so against a St. Louis Blues team that has struggled for parts of the season.

St. Louis is in fourth place in the Central Division, but their -8 goal differential leaves little to be desired.

Their inability to score goals this season has been a major concern, as they’ve only scored 152, the third-fewest in the Central Division. If they’re going to want to improve this season, they need to find a way to put the puck in the back of the net. They’ve scored one or fewer goals in two out of their last four games.

The Oilers are backed by Connor McDavid, arguably the best player in hockey. They enter play with 174 goals, 138 goals given up, and a point differential of 36.

McDavid has the fourth most points in the NHL with 77, and he should add to that total while the Oilers get another win against the Blues.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Vancouver Canucks Betting Tip

The Vancouver Canucks are still 10 points ahead in the Pacific Division and six points ahead in the entire Western Conference.

They have the most points in the NHL and will look to continue doing so as they take on a Detroit Red Wings team that has struggled for most of the season.

Despite some of the struggles from Detroit, this season hasn’t been as bad as it might look. They still have 60 points, a positive goal differential, and are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.

They’re sneakily one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference and a team who could ruin another team’s playoff chances. If they make the playoffs, they could be considered a team that can upset one of the top seeds. In the past week, they have won against this Canucks team and also beat the Vegas Golden Knights before the All-Star break.

The Canucks have won seven out of their last 10 and two straight games.

Their last loss was against this Red Wings team in Detroit. With them returning to Vancouver, look for them to get the job done and not lose to the Red Wings twice in the same week.
