This could easily be a preview of the 2026 NBA Finals, as the Spurs rank second in the Western Conference standings and the Celtics are in second place in the East as well. 

The previous head-to-head meeting was played at TD Garden, and in an intense atmosphere that resembled a playoff matchup, the Spurs came through to secure a 100-95 victory.

Don’t be surprised if the Spurs come through and secure another win here. Aside from having the edge of playing at home, where they’ve gone a West-best 24-6 mark, the Spurs are probably one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now since they’ve won nine of their previous 10 games. 

The Spurs have won by double-digit margins seven times in that span, including two wins over the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference, the Pistons.

The Celtics have played well of late too, going 2-0 since the return of Jayson Tatum to the lineup and 8-2 over their last 10 games. 

Even though the Celtics have won four of their last five away from home, where they own a 22-11 record, this trip to San Antonio could be too much for them to handle. The Celtics don’t have the defensive personnel to contain the Spurs effectively, and that should be noticeable here.

Targeting Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum or De’Aaron Fox could all be profitable moves in terms of player props, but right now, Wembanyama is one of the hottest players in the NBA. 

The Frenchman has been instrumental to the Spurs’ hopes of earning the top seed in the Western Conference, and he also has a favorable matchup in his individual duel against the Celtics.

The Celtics will be without Nikola Vučević (finger), so the task of slowing Wembanyama will fall on the shoulders of Neemias Queta. Wembanyama’s mobility, length and ability to step out of the paint could favor him in this battle. Plus, the star big man has reached this line of 35.5 points + rebounds in four of his last five outings.

The first leg of our three-leg parlay is the under in the points market. The previous head-to-head meeting between these two teams ended with 195 total points, and while the offensive talent is unquestionable on both teams, so is the defensive ability. 

With a playoff-like atmosphere expected between two of the best teams in the NBA this season, expect this matchup to be a low-scoring game once again.

We’re also betting on Tatum to hit a new season-high scoring mark. Tatum is making just his third appearance since returning from a torn Achilles that kept him out for nearly 10 months.

He scored 15 points on 27 minutes in his season debut against Dallas on Friday. While he’s still on a minutes restriction, his scoring should increase as he builds game fitness. Given the low baseline from his first two outings, clearing 21.5 points is achievable if his minutes extend to 30+.

Last but not least, look for Stephon Castle to make his presence felt both as a scorer and playmaker, as he’s been embracing a bigger role next to De’Aaron Fox in the backcourt. 

Castle has recorded at least 20 points + assists in three of his last four outings, and he could surpass that mark once again. Castle is averaging 15.3 points and 6.7 assists per game since the All-Star break.

The Spurs are uncertain whether veteran forward Harrison Barnes will be available for this contest. Barnes is dealing with an ankle injury that has sidelined him for the Spurs’ previous four games, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he remains sidelined for this one. 

Mason Plumlee, who was recently signed off waivers, is uncertain to be available due to logistics. David Jones Garcia is out for the rest of the season.

Boston Celtics Team News

The Celtics will be close to full strength since Tatum (Achilles) is back in the mix. The lone absence for the Celtics will be Nikola Vucevic. The veteran center, who was acquired before the trade deadline, suffered a finger injury in Friday’s win over the Dallas Mavericks and is expected to be sidelined for around a month.
