Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: Edmonton Oilers
- Odds: -139 (Tonybet)
The Oilers have been playing well lately and posted a 4-1-0 record over their last five contests. They secured a dominant 6-2 victory over the Utah Mammoth on Saturday, avenging their 4-2 loss last Thursday. After dropping the season opener to the Vancouver Canucks in a 6-5 overtime loss, Edmonton has won six of its seven games (6-1-0).
The Wild have also posted excellent results, matching the Oilers’ five-game record of 4-1-0 after a 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. They’re on a two-game winning run after topping the St. Louis Blues on October 15, and they’ve left their uneven start to the season (2-1-1 in the first four) behind.

The Oilers are expected to start Devon Levi between the pipes, and he seems to have taken over the No. 1 role from Tristan Jarry after a strong start to the season with a 4-1-0 record, 2.83 GAA, and an .898 save percentage through five games. The Wild will counter with Jesper Wallstedt, who’s also enjoying a strong start to the season with a 6-1-1 record, a 1.99 GAA, and a .922 save percentage in eight starts.
Minnesota has the edge on the defensive end, but its road record hasn’t been very good with just one win in its last four (1-2-1). The Oilers’ home record isn’t ideal (1-1-1), but they are 5-0-0 on the road and have won six of their last seven games. That could be too much for the Wild, given their recent away struggles.
Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points
- Odds: -130 (Tonybet)
Connor McDavid has been unstoppable so far, opening the season on an eight-game, 23-point streak (six goals, 17 assists). He recorded five points (two goals, three assists) in Saturday’s win over Utah.
McDavid has hit the over 1.5 points line in six of his eight appearances this season. Even though the Wild are a tougher defensive matchup, they have allowed 12 goals over their last four away contests, and McDavid has cleared this line in two of three home games.
Given McDavid’s established role on the first line and top power-play unit, and his 22:02 TOI/G, he should generate plenty of chances to clear it again.
Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers Total Goals Prediction
- Total Goals Pick: Over 5.5 Goals
- Odds: -157 (Tonybet)
The Oilers are scoring an NHL-best 4.63 goals per game this season while allowing 3.00 (14th). The Wild are pretty much the opposite, ranking fifth in goals allowed (2.33) but 16th in goals scored (3.11). Still, the two teams’ scoring averages add up to 7.74 goals per game, well above the 5.5-goal line.
The recent games support this trend as well. Three of the Oilers’ last five outings, including the last two, have gone over 5.5 goals, and three of Minnesota’s previous four have also cleared that line. Four of the last five head-to-head meetings have produced six or more goals.
A ⭐️ IN HIS ROLE.
Congrats on @NHL 3rd star of the week, Kirill! https://t.co/jt6V5HU0gu
— Minnesota Wild (@mnwild) October 19, 2026
Given the offensive talent on both sides, led by star players McDavid and Kirill Kaprizov, I’m predicting a back-and-forth contest that should continue the recent scoring trends in head-to-head meetings.
Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers Team News
Minnesota Wild Team News
The Wild will be weakened defensively without Jared Spurgeon (upper body) and Brock Faber (skull fracture). Spurgeon could return before the end of the current road trip, but Faber has no return timetable. That means Carson Lambos and David Spacek should continue to see regular playing time on the blue line.

This clash against Edmonton marks the first of Minnesota’s five-game road trip, and it has played three of its previous six on the road as well. Tired legs could become an issue for the team, especially given its injuries on defence.
Edmonton Oilers Team News
The Oilers are without several forwards due to injury, though the standout name is Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (lower body), who would operate as a top-six forward if he were healthy. Colton Dach has been filling in for his absence.
The #Oilers kick off a five-game homestand at @RogersPlace with a visit from Minnesota as they look to extend their strong start to the season. https://t.co/YygJsfJ6nk

Unlike the Wild, who are set to begin a five-game road trip, the Oilers are about to embark on a five-game homestand after playing four of their previous five on the road.
