Vancouver Canucks vs New Jersey Devils Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: New Jersey Devils
The Canucks finally saw the end of their 11-game losing skid with a tight, unexpected 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. That result doesn’t hide the fact that Vancouver are having a season to forget, but at least snapped the longest losing streak of the 2025-26 NHL campaign.
The Canucks still rank in the bottom five in both offence (28th, 2.58 goals scored per game) and defence (league-worst 3.64 goals allowed per contest).

With that in mind, facing the Devils can hardly be considered a favourable matchup, especially as New Jersey appear to have turned a corner recently. They’ve won four of their last five contests (W4, L1) following a four-game losing streak.
Neither team have looked dominant lately, and while the Canucks are at home, it’s hard to see them winning two in a row, especially against a New Jersey side that looks on the rise.
Fresh off back-to-back wins over the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers, the Devils should add another W in their current Canada road trip.
Vancouver Canucks vs New Jersey Devils Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Dougie Hamilton over 0.5 assists
Despite being a defenceman, Hamilton has played a key role on offence for the Devils in their prolific stretch. He delivered an assist in the 2-1 win over Edmonton and has posted at least one helper in six games in a row, tallying seven assists over that span. Expect him to extend his productive run against the Canucks, who rank as the worst NHL team in several defensive metrics.
Vancouver Canucks vs New Jersey Devils Same Game Parlay
- SGP: Devils to score under 3.5 goals + Dougie Hamilton over 0.5 points + Nico Hischier over 0.5 points
Our three-leg parlay leans heavily toward the Devils, as they shouldn’t have problems dominating this game on the road against the team that have lost 13 of their last 15 contests.
However, don’t expect New Jersey to score a lot of goals, as they enter this fixture having scored two or fewer in four straight outings. Even though the Canucks have allowed a league-worst 183 goals, the Devils might not take full advantage of that.
Per @FriedgeHNIC, the New Jersey Devils tried to trade Dougie Hamilton to the San Jose Sharks this summer, but he blocked it with his trade protection (a 10 team trade list). 👀 pic.twitter.com/UUEQEgTFFo

Two players who should find a way to crack the scoresheet are Hamilton and Nico Hischier, as they’ve been the heart and soul of this Devils side throughout the season. Hamilton is on a six-game point streak with seven helpers over that stretch and should be a massive threat as a playmaker once again.
Meanwhile, Hischier leads the Devils in both goals (15) and total points (37) this season. Hischier has gone pointless in the last three encounters, and a matchup against the Canucks looks like the best bet to end that drought.
Vancouver Canucks vs New Jersey Devils Team News
Vancouver Canucks Team News
The Canucks remain without Marco Rossi, but the star playmaker has a chance of returning to action before the end of the month as he works his way back from a lower-body injury. Filip Chytil (upper body) is also tabbed to return to action in the coming days.
However, other Vancouver players won’t be back until later in the season – probably after the Olympic break. The list includes defencemen Derek Forbort (undisclosed) and Guillaume Brisebois (lower body), as well as goaltender Thatcher Demko (lower body). The absence of Demko has been significant, as he was expected to be the No. 1 goaltender when healthy.
New Jersey Devils Team News
The Devils won’t see many changes to their injured list compared to recent games, and their four sidelined players will remain on the shelf for this one. Marc McLaughlin is the closest to a return and is expected back in the lineup before the end of January.
The same can’t be said about Luke Hughes, who has landed on long-term injured reserve and will be out until early March at the earliest due to a shoulder injury. Zack MacEwen (knee) is out for the rest of the season, while Stefan Noesen (knee) might not return until February at the earliest.
