Despite their sixth place in the Bundesliga, Dortmund has a good chance of making it to the final, which would not be undeserved – although it might surprise many. 

Club legend Marco Reus announced this week that he will leave the club at the end of the season. This could boost Dortmund’s morale as they try to reach the UCL final. 

On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain has never been closer to the Champions League trophy since Tuchel’s era. Winning the UCL title is the main reason Qatar invested so heavily in this club. The question now remains: Can they make it this year?

At this stage of the Champions League, all teams have earned their spots. You cannot reach the final four by just being ‘lucky.’ With that said, if Paris qualifies for the final, they would face either Tuchel’s Bayern Munich or Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, both seasoned veterans in European competitions.

However, this might not be enough against a PSG with Zaire-Emery and Vitinha. The latter played a crucial role against Barcelona, and history could repeat itself.

The biggest question is the same as always with Dortmund – will they be able to avoid their defensive mistakes? 

Everyone knows about Sancho and Sabitzer – capable of always finding a way to exploit the opponent’s defensive lapses. 

However, the unknown factor is whether Hummels and Schlotterbeck can maintain their composure under pressure. With past mistakes still haunting them, keeping their cool will be key to reaching the final. Dortmund has shown resilience, as evidenced in their qualification win over Atlético Madrid, but PSG is an opponent of a different calibre. 

This game will be decided by mentality – a quality both teams lacked in the final stages of the Champions League in recent years. PSG and Dortmund have often been labelled as bottlers and it will be entertaining to see how they try to secure a spot in the final.
