The Brooklyn Nets will host the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday as they look to improve upon their 6-6 record. Philadelphia comes in with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and will look to continue dominating on both ends of the floor.
Prior to the two losses that they had throughout the week against the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia was 8-1 on the season. Brooklyn was on a two-game winning streak before falling to the Miami Heat on Thursday night.
Nets vs 76ers Prediction Prediction
- Pick: 76ers to win
As the 76ers have to figure out life without James Harden, it seems to be going in the right direction. Whether that be because of Joel Embiid playing at an MVP level once again or the emergence of Tyrese Maxey.
The University of Kentucky product has been everywhere on the court for Philadelphia this season. He’s currently averaging 27.6 points per game and shooting nearly 50% from the field while shooting above 42% from 3-point range.
The Nets don’t have a player that’s standing out for them at the moment, but there has been some impressive play on both ends of the ball from them.
Players such as Mikal Bridges and others have all done what they needed to do for Brooklyn this season. Unfortunately, Cam Thomas is going to miss this game. He was leading Brooklyn in scoring before his injury. The 22-year-old was averaging 26.9 points per game and had 30 plus in multiple outings.
In terms of advanced team stats, Philadelphia has been a much better team. They currently have the third-highest net rating (7.4) and the fourth-best offensive rating (118.57).
The advanced stats for Brooklyn aren’t that impressive. They have the 14th-ranked net rating (1.1), 8th-ranked offensive rating (114.0), and 18th-ranked defensive rating (112.9).
Nets vs 76ers Betting Tip
- Pick: Joel Embiid over 30.0
Joel Embiid has been one of the most profitable 2023 NBA picks, and that’s not expected to change this time around. While he’s coming off the worst two games of his season, this is a perfect bounce-back spot. Embiid only scored 20 points against the Celtics in their recent game, and although he finished with 39 against the Pacers, he wasn’t good enough down the stretch.
The Nets are giving up the eighth most points to the center position at 24.21 points per game. This is yet another opportunity for Embiid to score 30–plus and continue doing what he’s been able to do offensively.
