Boston Bruins vs Edmonton Oilers. Shape of the Teams

The Boston Bruins take on the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night in an anticipated game that could be a Stanley Cup Finals preview. Boston enters play with the best record in the Atlantic Division and the most points in the Eastern Conference.

Edmonton has been the hottest team in the league for the past two months, owning the third most points in the Pacific Division and going 7-3 in their last 10 games.

This is one of those games where anything can happen, but with it being in Edmonton, the Oilers have to feel confident about being able to get the job done.

It’s been all Connor McDavid once again for them this season, as he has the third most points in the NHL with 83. McDavid will be a big factor in the Oilers’ success on Wednesday.

Boston Bruins vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction

The scorching-hot Edmonton Oilers won’t be an easy team to beat come playoff time, but for the regular season, they’ve proven that they might be the best team in the NHL throughout the past few months.

The start of the season was ugly, but they turned things around and showed that they still had more than enough to get the job done. There are some concerns about what Edmonton’s going to do in the playoffs, as they’ve had playoff concerns in the past, but the same can be said for the Bruins.

Boston has been their best regular team in hockey throughout the past two seasons now and although they have the most points in the Eastern Conference and second most in the entire NHL, their recent stretch isn’t too impressive.

The Bruins had a tough stretch, taking on the Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, and others in their last 10 games, but 4-4-2 in their last 10 isn’t going to get the job done if they want to secure the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Florida Panthers are one point behind them in the standings and can catch them as they’re 9-1 in their last 10 games.

Edmonton doesn’t have much of a chance of catching the Vancouver Canucks this season and will focus on trying to catch the Vegas Golden Knights. With 70 points, the Golden Knights only have three more points than Edmonton.

However, Edmonton’s +37 goal differential is the third-best in the Western Conference and fifth-best in the NHL.

This isn’t an easy game for either side, but with it being in Edmonton and the Oilers playing much better hockey than Boston recently, it’s a good time to back them to get the job done.

Boston Bruins vs Edmonton Oilers Betting Tip

For a prop bet, McDavid over 1.5 points is the play of the night. With 83 points in just 50 games, he’s averaging more than one point per game.

His ability to put the puck in the back of the net has been impressive this season with 21 goals, but he’s also leading the league in assists with 62, and that’s been what’s gotten the Oilers’ offence going this season.

When Edmonton is sharing the puck, McDavid and the rest of the team are at their best. They have 187 points, which ranks them second in the Pacific Division. A considerable portion of these points were earned in the past few weeks. If they didn’t have that slow start, Edmonton would have well over 200 points and perhaps the most goals in the NHL.

Expect McDavid to do what he has to do to take down a tough Bruins team in a game that’s not a must-win but would be a feel-good victory.
