St. Louis Blues vs Edmonton Oilers. Shape of the Teams

The Edmonton Oilers have finally hit 70 points on the season after coming away with a 4-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. They’ll be put to the test on Wednesday against a tough St. Louis Blues team that’s won five out of their last 10 and is coming off a win against the Detroit Red Wings.

Edmonton was one of the top teams in hockey heading into the All-Star break, winning nearly 20 straight games. That was massive for them as they had a slow start. Despite that slow start, they now find themselves in a position to make the playoffs if they can continue playing well.

As for the Blues, they have 62 points and will have to improve if they want to secure a playoff spot down the stretch. They haven’t put together a perfect month of hockey all season, and with March coming up, there would be no better time than now to do so.

With this game being in Edmonton and the Blues on a back-to-back, it’s tough to imagine they find a way to win.

St. Louis Blues vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction

With the recent play of the Edmonton Oilers, there’s much more that this team can be doing on both sides of the puck for them to get back on track. With just five wins in their last 10 games, the Oilers have to find a way to play good hockey just as they were when they were on one of the most impressive winning streaks any sport has ever seen.

While it’s impossible to play at a near 20 game when pace, the Oilers can strengthen things up on the defensive side of the puck. They’ve allowed 168 goals this season, which is about average in the league, but in their last couple of games, they’ve given up at least four goals in each of their last four. That also includes two games where they’ve given up six goals.

Giving up six goals is never the recipe for success, no matter who they’re playing against. Despite this being one of the best offences in the league, with the fourth most points in the Western Conference, they have to sure things up in the back of the net.

Stuart Skinner was playing much better than he has throughout the past few games, evident by his 2.7-goal-against average, which ranks just above average in the league.

All the Oilers need him to be is average, and that’s something to look for in this game against the St. Louis Blues.

The reason for liking the Oilers in this game is despite the fact that they have struggled to keep the puck out of the net, St Louis doesn’t necessarily score a lot of goals. They enter play with just 167 goals, the third-fewest in the Western Conference.

St. Louis Blues vs Edmonton Oilers Betting Tip

The top prop pick for this game will be Connor McDavid to have over 1.5 points. Whenever the Edmonton Oilers are playing, taking McDavid to play well is always a confident play. He enters with the third most points in the entire NHL, as he has 70 assists, which leads the league. McDavid has played well throughout his past few games too, putting up two points in each of his last five games.

Another reason for feeling confident in this play is that the St. Louis Blues have had their struggles with keeping the puck out of the back of the net at times. They’ve given up 178 goals, which ranks them about average in the NHL.

If Edmonton can continue scoring the way that they have for most of the season, with 201 goals, McDavid should play a big part in that and have at least two points in this one.
