Bournemouth vs Liverpool. Shape of the Teams

Bournemouth, currently positioned at 12th in the league, experienced a notable upswing in form during November and December. Manager Iraola seems to have struck the right chord with his team, with Dominic Solanke emerging as a key figure in their recent success.

However, the team faced a setback in a 1-3 loss to a higher-level Tottenham side, a result that seemed to stem more from a difference in quality than a lack of effort or strategy on Bournemouth’s part.

Their subsequent victory against QPR, however, indicates that the loss to Tottenham might have been a result of facing a team with superior talent.

Liverpool, currently without their star player Mohamed Salah, who is on duty with Egypt at the AFCON, faces a challenge but not an impossible one. Salah’s absence is significant, as he is a crucial figure in the team’s attacking prowess, and winning the AFCON remains an elusive goal for him.

However, Harvey Elliott stepping in as Salah’s replacement offers a glimmer of hope. Elliott’s performance, though not on par with Salah’s, has been impactful, as seen in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Fulham in the FA Cup.

On the other side, Bournemouth, despite being in a decent league position, faces a tough challenge against Liverpool. Their main strength lies in striker Dominic Solanke, who has been in excellent form.

However, Bournemouth’s reliance on high-intensity play and pressing tactics might not be enough against Liverpool, who not only share a similar style but also possess superior overall player quality.

It seems harsh, but there’s no way out, logically speaking, for Bournemouth.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Main Match Info

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Hotspur, Prediction, Odds

Bournemouth’s main strategy should rely on exploiting Liverpool’s current lack of dominance in their forward line. Darwin Núñez is still building his confidence, Harvey Elliott, despite his potential, is young and relatively inexperienced, and Diogo Jota is yet to regain his best form post-injury.

Gakpo, another option up front, hasn’t been particularly incisive or direct in his approach, leaving a gap in the attacking threat. In this scenario, Liverpool might lean more on Dominik Szoboszlai to create scoring opportunities. His ability to pose a threat could be key in unlocking Bournemouth’s defence.

But their intensity could be a problem for Bournemouth, who also depend on…intensity and wide threats.

The critical factor could be which team scores first, especially with Solanke in excellent form for Bournemouth, slowly rising as one the top strikers in the Premier League.

Despite Bournemouth’s home advantage, Liverpool is likely to take it home. With their track record of securing late victories – exemplified by their recent 4-3 win against Fulham – the Reds are the favourites. Liverpool’s resilience and knack for finding goals in crucial moments give them an edge.

Whether Bournemouth can sustain their intense style of play throughout the full 90 minutes is something I doubt.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Betting Tip

There are few things as obvious as Solanke ending up on the scoresheet for Bournemouth. Under Iraola’s management, Solanke has transformed into one of the Premier League’s most well-rounded strikers. His evolution into this role, especially as a lone striker, has been crucial for Bournemouth.

The support from Justin Kluivert, who carries a notable football legacy from his father, Patrick Kluivert, has further bolstered Solanke’s effectiveness upfront.

Given Liverpool’s less-than-impressive record of keeping clean sheets, it’s reasonable to anticipate Bournemouth finding the back of the net in their upcoming match. And if there’s a goal from Iraola’s men, Solanke will be involved in one way or the other.
