After an exciting Indian Wells tournament, the tennis caravan moves towards the sunlit courts of Florida for the Miami Open. Tennis legend Novak Djokovic, tied with Andre Agassi with the most titles in men (6), will not participate. Rafael Nadal, who withdrew from Indian Wells due to an injury, will also be absent.
Despite the absence of these two tennis giants, we can rely on youngsters such as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, two of the most promising young stars on the circuit. They have been demonstrating excellent performances this year – especially Sinner, who won his maiden Grand Slam at the Australian Open.

The defending champion, Daniil Medvedev, will try to defend his crown after losing the final against Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells. The Russian is an expert at playing hard courts and is expected to make a deep run with his exceptional baseline game.
On the women’s side, Serena Williams holds the record with 8 Miami Open titles, but she has already retired from professional tennis.
Defending champion Petra Kvitová will not be present due to pregnancy, but we will see plenty of action from other players.

Men’s Prediction, Odds
- Pick: Jannik Sinner to win the title
- Odds: +250 (Tonybet)
The only loss that Jannik Sinner suffered this year was against Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Open. At just 22, Sinner has been in fantastic form, even beating Djokovic at the Australian Open. I think that despite the negative result at Indian Wells, he could make a strong rebound, positioning him as a frontrunner to reach the finals and clinch the title.

We cannot forget Carlos Alcaraz. Following his victory at Wimbledon in 2023, critics noted a decline in his form. However, his recent triumph at Indian Wells once again reminded us of his true powers and capability. With the advantage of a favourable draw, the 20-year-old Spaniard is a contender to watch.
Former champion Daniil Medvedev has had several setbacks in 2024. Despite being 2-0 up in sets against Jannik Sinner, he lost the Australian Open final. At Indian Wells, he also reached the final, but Carlos Alcaraz got the better of him this time. The Russian player is always a force on hard courts, and we cannot leave him out of the favourites.

Alexander Zverev is another notable player in the draw. After returning from injury, he has been showing great tennis. However, inconsistency has always been the main issue for the German. Despite this, he beat Carlos Alcaraz in Australia this year, leaving him no chance.
Women’s Prediction, Odds
- Pick: Iga Swiatek to win the title
- Odds: +131 (Tonybet)
Coco Gauff has now won 16 of her 20 matches in 2024 and will be one of the favourites at the Miami Open. Although the 20-year-old has never made it past the fourth round in Miami, she is quite capable of competing for the title, given her current form.
Elena Rybakina, last year’s runner-up, is one of the main favourites along with Iga Swiatek. The 2022 Wimbledon champion’s main concern has been her health, leading to several tournament withdrawals due to illness, including a recent pullout from Indian Wells.

Rybakina, however, is ready to compete in the Miami Open and if she remains fully healthy, there is a good chance we could see her win her second title of the season. Swiatek, Pegula and Gauff are in one part of the draw, and Rybakina could theoretically play a potential high-stakes semi-final against Sabalenka.
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is perhaps the main favourite to win the Miami Open.
In 2024, she clinched her second WTA 1000 title by winning the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, where she beat Maria Sakkari in the final.

During the entire tournament, she did not drop a single set. Swiatek already has the Sunshine Double to her name, having won Indian Wells and Miami in 2022, and she will try to replicate her success.
