Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers. Shape of the Teams

We have a potential Stanley Cup Playoffs matchup on Monday as the Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the Florida Panthers. Florida enters with the second most points in the Atlantic Division with 99 and a record of 47-22-5.

The Maple Leafs, on the other hand, enter with 93 points and are 42-22-9 on the season. Both teams have been playing well in recent games, coming in at least winning their last game.

Given the Panthers’ position in the Eastern Conference, every game from here on out is going to be even more important for them than the Maple Leafs.

The Maple Leafs should be able to solidify a playoff spot in the coming days, but the Panthers want to make sure that they can get a high enough seed and possibly even be the number one overall seed in the Eastern Conference if things do go their way.

They’ve already clinched a playoff spot, so expect them to continue coming out and trying to get the highest heat pass away.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers Prediction

Although the Florida Panthers have been the better team for most of the season, their 4-5-1 record in their last 10 games is a bit concerning. They enter play after an impressive 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings but have struggled in recent weeks against some of the other top teams in the Eastern Conference.

If that’s going to continue against a Maple Leafs team that has won six out of their last 10 games, the Panthers could be in for a long game in this one. When you look at what has gone well for Toronto this season, it’s their ability to score the puck at a high level.

They have 269 goals scored as a team, which is not only the most in the Eastern Conference but also ranks them in the top three in the entire NHL. That’s something to look out for in this game because Florida has only allowed 182 goals, which is by far the fewest in the Eastern Conference.

Both of these teams do the opposite of what the other one does well, and that leads to an exciting contest. However, with Toronto not yet clinching a playoff spot and this game being played in their home arena, it’s not a bad idea to back the offence in this one and hope that they can continue to score goals.

They have 30 more goals on the season than Florida and should be able to continue scoring the puck at a high level.

This game will be close and potentially low-scoring, but expect them to come out and look to get their third straight win after beating the Buffalo Sabers and Washington Capitals in back-to-back games.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers Betting Tip

The best bet of the night will be taking Austin Matthews to have over 1.5 points. When looking at the season he’s had this year, it’s been evident that he’s arguably been the best player in the NHL.

He enters the game with 60 goals, which ranks first among every player in the National Hockey League. He’s also dished out 35 assists, which makes his point total 95 points, good for the eighth best in the entire season.

For Matthews, this is a good time for him to continue doing what he needs to do. He hasn’t hit this mark in any of his last four games, but did have multiple two-point games in March.

With his back up against the wall, look for him to do what he needs to do for the Maple Leafs to win and that’s put the puck in the back of the net at a high level.
