Paris Saint-Germain vs RC Strasbourg Team News

Paris Saint-Germain Team News

Despite dealing with multiple injuries, Paris haven’t been too affected by the changes in the squad. The club remain first in Ligue 1 with 16 points from seven matches, one ahead of Marseille.

PSG and Marseille played in late September, which marked PSG’s only defeat of the season (0-1). However, they made up for it with a 2-0 victory over Auxerre, followed by a 2-1 victory against Barcelona in the Champions League

The result against the Catalans was particularly surprising given the number of injuries, which forced Luis Enrique to call up players he usually doesn’t field. For example, Senny Mayulu and Ibrahim Mbaye played next to Bradley Barcola.

Despite the individual changes, the team structure wasn’t affected and allowed PSG to thrive throughout the second half.

Paris dropped points against Lille in a 1-1 draw after a goalless first half. Left-back Nuno Mendes opened the scoring in the 66th minute, but Kylian Mbappé’s younger brother Ethan Mbappé scored the equalizer for Lille in the 85th minute.

Fabián Ruiz, Marquinhos, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, João Neves, Noham Kamara, Bradley Barcola, and Senny Mayulu are all sidelined with injuries.

Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup vs RC Strasbourg (4-3-3): Chevalier; Hernández, Pacho, Beraldo, Hakimi; Zaïre-Emery, Ndjantou, Lee; Kvaratskhelia, Ramos, Mbaye.

RC Strasbourg Team News

Strasbourg’s rise continues: after finishing seventh in Ligue 1 last season, they currently sit third in the league, behind Marseille on goal difference. The club have only lost two matches, one against Monaco and the other against Marseille.

One of the reasons why they’ve been successful is their unique tactical system: they use a high press, which allows them to register a high number of turnovers. At times, Strasbourg have also deployed a mid-block approach, where they look to crowd central channels as well.

They’re a fluid team, capable of shifting to a 5-4-1 or 4-4-2 deep block when defending, while also adopting a more vertical approach in possession.

Saïdou Sow and Rabby Nzingoula are sidelined through injuries, while Mamadou Sarr, Sebastian Nanasi, Maxi Oyedele, and Emanuel Emegha are awaiting medical clearance.

RC Strasbourg predicted lineup vs Paris Saint-Germain (3-4-2-1): Penders; Doukouré, Høgsberg, Doué; Moreira, Mourabet, Barco, Ouattara; Lemaréchal, Godo; Panichelli.

Paris Saint-Germain vs RC Strasbourg Prediction, Odds

Paris Saint-Germain are expected to win, even though the last encounter ended in a Strasbourg victory. By that point, Luis Enrique’s side had already secured the Ligue 1 trophy and were focused on the Champions League instead.

PSG will face challenges without Dembélé and Doué, but they can count on players like Hakimi and Zaïre-Emery to lead the team in the attack. With the support of the home crowd, it’s no surprise that the betting odds favour Paris.

Paris Saint-Germain vs RC Strasbourg Betting Tip

In the absence of Barcola and Dembélé, Kvaratshelia will be expected to lead the squad. His technical ability has been somewhat overshadowed by Dembélé’s impressive record in front of the net. While he may not have Barcola’s strong shoulder, he often gets past his defender anyway with his dribbling.

Strasbourg will have to deal with two threats on the flanks: Achraf Hakimi on the right, and “Kvaradona” on the left. The team tend to congest central channels, but they’ll need to find a way to defend in wider areas – something they’ve struggled with in the past.
