Detroit Red Wings vs. Dallas Stars Prediction
- Pick: Stars to win
- Odds: +114 (Tonybet)
The Dallas Stars will take on the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday in what could be one of the more interesting games of the week.
Detroit has had a much better season than they’re currently getting credit for, as they sit in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with an impressive 53 points.
Although Detroit has had struggles throughout the season, their 162 goals rank first in the Atlantic Division. They also have the most goals in the entire Eastern Conference. If they can continue scoring the way that they have for most of the season, they’re going to be one of the top teams in the league for the rest of the year.
The Red Wings’ offensive charge has been a team effort, with Dylan Larkin at the forefront, amassing the 48th highest points tally in the NHL with 41.
Despite the recent play from Detroit, the Dallas Stars have been one of the top teams in hockey throughout the entire season because of what they can do offensively, too. With 169 goals to their name, Dallas currently ranks second in the Central Division and third in the Western Conference.
Jason Robertson has been the top player for Dallas this season, posting 48 points, the 18th most in the NHL.
The question for them throughout the season has been their inability to keep the puck out of the back of the net. They’ve given up 140 goals, and while that has been a concern, they’ve done a bit better in recent games. Outside of the five-goal game that they gave up to the Philadelphia Flyers, they’ve given up two or fewer goals in four of their past five games.
This is a tough game for Dallas, but given their veteran leadership and ability to win on the road, this isn’t a bad time to back them.
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Philadelphia Flyers Betting Tips
- Pick: Flyers to win
- Odds: +141 (Tonybet)
The Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the surprise teams of the 2023-24 NHL season. They currently sit in second place in the Metropolitan Division with 56 points and have the fourth most points in the Eastern Conference.
They’ve been able to do so by elite goaltending as they’ve given up the third-fewest amount of goals in the Metropolitan Division.
Despite the play from Philadelphia throughout the past few months, this game against the Tampa Bay Lightning is exactly what they need to prove to people that they might be one of those teams that actually needs to be taken seriously.
The Lightning have struggled a bit at times this year, sitting at 24-18-5, but they’ve won seven out of their last 10 games.
On the other side of that, the Flyers have lost their last two games and have done so at home. With this being their last home game before they head to Detroit, look for them to potentially get a win in this spot.
It won’t be easy, but Travis Konecny and others should help them get a much-needed win at home.
Washington Capitals vs. Minnesota Wild Betting Tip
- Pick: Wild to win
- Odds: +108 (Tonybet)
The struggling Minnesota Wild have played better in their past two games, winning both of them. They’ve done so against decent opponents as they’ve taken down the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.
These wins could be the sparks that ignite a turnaround for them as they skate into the second half of the season, especially considering their stark contrast to last season’s performance.
In the 2022-23 season, they were one of the top teams in hockey and made the playoffs. However, this season has seen a drastic shift, with the team currently languishing in second to last place in the Central Division and having the fourth fewest points in the Western Conference.
The struggles have been obvious this season for Minnesota as they can’t keep the puck out of the back of the net. On the year, they’ve given up the second most goals in the division.
While the Washington Capitals haven’t been much better this season, sitting in third to last place in the Metropolitan Division, they’ve been an above-average team for most of the season. They, unfortunately, just can’t get over that hump. At 22-16-6, they’ve been a .500 team for essentially the entire season. Even in their last 10 games, they’ve gone 5-5.
Because this game is going to be played in Minnesota, it might not be a bad idea to back the home team here. The Wild have some confidence as they enter play with two straight wins, and that could prove to be the deciding factor in this game.
