Winnipeg Jets vs Tampa Bay Lightning Main Match Info

Winnipeg Jets vs Tampa Bay Lightning Moneyline Prediction

The Lightning have been trending in the wrong direction lately. They suffered a 5-1 defeat to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, extending their losing streak to three encounters.

That said, this skid follows a six-game winning run. The team’s main issue has been lacklustre play on defence, as they’ve conceded at least five goals in each of those losses.

This matchup against the Jets looks like a perfect opportunity for them to bounce back, as Winnipeg rank 24th in scoring this season with 2.83 goals per contest.

The Canadian side are coming off an overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks, marking the fourth consecutive overtimes they’ve played (W2, L2). At some point, that increased workload could become a factor.

The Lightning shouldn’t be defined by their ongoing losing skid, as they rank in the top five in both goals scored (3.49) and allowed (2.64) per game this season. Their previous six-game winning run also includes a victory over the Jets, and despite playing on the road, the Bolts appear to hold the edge.

Not only do Tampa Bay boast a better roster than Winnipeg, but they’re also too good to remain in a prolonged slump. Furthermore, the Jets are expected to look tired after playing four OTs in a row, tipping the scales even more toward the Lightning.

If the Lightning are going to turn things around and secure a win here, they need Nikita Kucherov to be at his best.

The star forward scored the team’s lone goal in Tuesday’s 5-1 loss to the Wild, and while his 12-game point streak ended against the Sabres on February 28, he remains an elite scoring weapon who can terrorise any defence.

Kucherov now sits at 32 goals, 96 points, and a plus-31 rating over 55 appearances.

Winnipeg Jets vs Tampa Bay Lightning Same Game Parlay

Three of the Jets’ last four have ended with under 5.5 goals in regulation. However, they’re not expected to carry most of the offence in this clash, and given their tired legs, the Lightning could dominate this game with ease. Tampa Bay have seen at least six goals in each of their last seven outings, so this line could hit once again.

We’re pairing that outcome with player props on two elite scoring threats in Kucherov and Kyle Connor.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Kucherov finds the back of the net here. He’s scored three goals in four appearances since the Olympic break and seven over his last 10.

Connor remains one of the most reliable scoring weapons for the Jets, but even if he doesn’t find the back of the net, he should be active enough to put up at least a few shots on goal. He’s recorded multiple shots in five straight games, surpassing the line of over 2.5 shots in four of them, which makes him a solid complementary option for our three-leg parlay.

Winnipeg Jets Team News

The Jets will wait to see if Colin Miller (knee) is available, as he remains on the IR and could be a game-time call for Thursday. Josh Morrissey (upper body) and Neal Pionk (undisclosed) should be back in the mix in the coming days as well.

The same can’t be said about Vladislav Namestnikov (lower body) and Nino Niederreiter (lower body). Both will be sidelined for multiple weeks and are hopeful to return before the end of the regular season.

Tampa Bay Lightning Team News

The Lightning have the same four absences they’ve had in recent weeks, and none will be available to return in this matchup. The list includes Gage Goncalves (undisclosed), Dominic James (leg), Nick Paul (undisclosed), and Max Crozier (undisclosed). All but Crozier should be back on the ice in the coming weeks.
