Forge FC vs Cavalry FC. Shape of the Teams

The Canadian Premier League’s sixth installment kicks off on April 13 with a match between Forge and Cavalry. The new CPL season promises a lot of excitement and fills spectators with anticipation.

Last year, Forge clinched the title by beating the same Cavalry in a nail-biting final. The decisive goal was scored in extra time when Tristan Borges stunned the crowd by scoring directly from a corner kick, also known as an ‘Olimpico.’

Both teams had a rocky start to the current season. Forge faced a setback away against Chivas Guadalajara in the CONCACAF Champions Cup (1-2), while Cavalry demonstrated a lacklustre performance in their away game against Orlando City (1-3).

None of the teams really experienced a massive setback in terms of the squad. Forge FC had signed some players as free agents including Koleilat Jassem from Los Angeles and Ampomah Nana from Dusseldorf.

As for the Cavalry, they made a loan deal for Sporting CP player – Lucas Dias. Jack Barret has also joined the roster from Everton.

Although both teams were created only recently, they have quickly established themselves as arch-rivals, delivering some of the most unforgettable clashes in CPL history. As they prepare to face off once again, fans can expect another high-scoring spectacle.

Forge FC vs Cavalry FC Prediction, Odds

Forge was one of the top teams in the previous season, securing a second-place finish just behind Cavalry FC with a 13-point difference. While the CPL can be considered a low-scoring championship, they managed to score 39 goals.

Terran Campbell, with ten goals, led Forge in the goal-scoring department. His partner in the attack, Woobens Pacius, also found the back of the net ten times but transferred to Nashville SC during the summer transfer window.

Forge’s strategy is focused on aggressive offensive play and high intensity, but their defensive line has frequently shown vulnerabilities.

Kyle Bekker, who has historically scored the most goals (7) in the head-to-head matches against Cavalry, will be back in action. The Canadian is one of the club’s most decorated players.

The Ontario team may not have started this year convincingly, but I think they can achieve a victory against Cavalry. The matches between these two always end up being close, but Forge should be able to secure a victory with the advantage of playing on their home turf for the season opener.

Forge FC vs Cavalry FC Betting Tip

As the curtain rises on the opening round, I think this will be a high-scoring encounter. Only two games ended in a goalless draw in the last 12 matches between Forge and Cavalry.

There are no signs that this encounter will be any different. Forge and Cavalary are arguably the crème de la crème of the CPL, and they will put up an intense fight on the pitch.

Returning to the spotlight is Myer Bevan, the top goalscorer in the previous edition of the CPL. He scored the consolation goal against Orlando City and was one of the most notable players on the pitch in that game.

Cavalry also has a major advantage in terms of set pieces. The team have a lot of athletic players who can win aerial duels against their opponents. It will be one of the major weapons against Forge.

Although Bobby Smyrniotis’s men will be attacking from the get-go, I think Cavalry will not sit back in the defence and create their own chances in front of the goal. This means we can expect an exchange of goals in this clash, exemplifying the competitive spirit of this match.
