Chelsea vs PSG Preview and Team News

Chelsea Team News

Chelsea had to prepare for their semifinal matchup against Fluminense while dealing with several absences on both sides of the ball. However, that didn’t seem to matter to the Blues

The squad were inspired by new signing João Pedro, who made his first Chelsea start after arriving from Brighton and grabbed a brace to lift the team to a spot in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Enzo Maresca’s men have been improving with each game, and it seems the 3-1 loss against Flamengo in the group stage unleashed something in them.

The London club have had a 100% record since that defeat while scoring 11 times, keeping two clean sheets, and only conceding twice over that four-game stretch. It’s worth noting that Chelsea’s defence will be in line for their toughest test to date on Sunday.

Another reason for Maresca to celebrate is the availability of two key players, Levi Colwill and Liam Delap. Pedro is expected to remain in the XI after scoring a brace against Fluminense. The lone significant absence for Chelsea should be Reece James, who remains sidelined due to injury. However, Malo Gusto has done a good job of replacing him on the right side of the defensive line.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs PSG (4-3-3): Sánchez; Gusto, Colwill, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernández, Palmer; Pedro, Delap, Neto.

PSG Team News

Chelsea might be on the rise with four consecutive victories, but it’s impossible not to be amazed by what PSG have done over the last few months.

The Ligue 1 giants won every single domestic competition in 2024/25 and now sit only 90 minutes away from lifting the FIFA Club World Cup. Their calling card has been their defence, as the team have kept five clean sheets in the tournament’s six outings.

PSG are also coming off their best performance in quite some time. They dismantled Real Madrid 4-0 and defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 in the quarterfinals, despite ending the latter game with nine players. There’s no doubt their path to the final has been more challenging than Chelsea’s.

One player to watch for PSG will be Ousmane Dembélé, as the star winger is on the rise and seems to be peaking right before the final – he has registered two goals and one assist in his previous two appearances. Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernández will both miss out due to suspension. Other than that, there are no notable absences for the French giants.

PSG predicted lineup vs Chelsea (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doué, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia.

Chelsea vs PSG Main Match Info

Chelsea vs PSG Prediction, Odds

There’s no doubt Chelsea will look to put up a fight here. They delivered one of their most complete Club World Cup performances in their 2-0 win over Fluminense in the semifinals.

Additionally, the return of some key players could also boost their chances. However, not even Chelsea’s absolute Best XI can do much against this PSG squad.

Luis Enrique’s men are playing at an extremely high level, and it seems they should cruise their way to a comfortable victory. The team have won and kept a clean sheet in five of their six matches in the competition. Aided by their impressive win over Real Madrid in the semifinals, PSG should secure a relatively comfortable victory in this contest, ultimately clinching the tournament title.

Chelsea vs PSG Betting Tip

Even though PSG are massive odds-on favourites ahead of this clash, one thing is sure: the match should be entertaining and action-packed on both ends. Chelsea haven’t shown an ability to win games solely through their defence, and while their opponents can undoubtedly do it, they’re far more dangerous when playing with an attacking approach.

With that in mind, backing both sides to score and at least three total goals could be a smart approach. It won’t have the highest odds, but it would be shocking if these two things didn’t occur, given the teams’ attacking tendencies. Three of PSG’s wins have come by a margin of at least two goals, whereas four of Chelsea’s last five fixtures have ended with over 2.5 total goals.
