The Magic finally snapped their four-game losing skid with a huge 133-124 win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Defeating their in-state rival should give Orlando a huge confidence boost. 

That momentum is reinforced by the fact that the Magic return home for this clash, where they’ll be looking to improve a middling 5-5 record in their last five outings at the Kia Center.

The Raptors, on the other hand, saw their four-game winning run come to an end with a 119-92 defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks on Wednesday. That defeat came at home, but with Toronto now heading back on the road, the tired legs could become a factor. 

This will be their sixth away encounter in their last seven overall.

Despite posting a 4-1 record in their previous five away contests, the Raptors have looked worn down recently, particularly in the frontcourt. That weakness could prove costly against a physical Orlando team. 

The Magic will have the edge of playing at home, and they should build off their win over Miami to come out on top here, avenging the loss they suffered against the Raptors on December 29 earlier this season.

If the Magic are to turn things around in the second half of the season, they need Banchero to be at his best. Orlando are a completely different team when the star forward is locked in.

Banchero could very well surpass the 25.5-point mark again here. He has the edge in the matchup against Scottie Barnes, who’s an excellent defender in his own right, and the numbers back him up as well. 

Banchero has reached the 20-point mark in four straight outings, averaging 29.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 36.5 minutes per game over that stretch.

If Wagner sits, Anthony Black should stay in the first unit. The rest of the team is healthy and available, so the likes of Jalen Suggs and Paolo Banchero should carry the Magic on both ends of the court.

The Raptors are thin in the frontcourt. Starting centre Jakob Poeltl remains out due to a nagging back injury and doesn’t yet have a timetable for his return.

Toronto have been starting rookie Collin Murray-Boyles in place of Poeltl at centre, but that’s not an ideal long-term solution. The good news for the Raptors is that Poeltl is the only regular starter who’s sidelined, so they should be close to full strength.
