Toronto Maple Leafs vs San Jose Sharks Main Match Info

Toronto Maple Leafs vs San Jose Sharks Moneyline Prediction

The Maple Leafs are going through their most productive stretch of the campaign. They bounced back from a 2-1 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 6 with an impressive 2-0 shutout win over the dangerous, yet underperforming, Tampa Bay Lightning. That win was the fourth in the last five games for Toronto (W4, OT1).

One would think that the Maple Leafs have relied on their offence through this impressive stretch, but the reality shows otherwise. The Leafs have shown elite goaltending and outstanding defensive play during this stretch, conceding two or fewer goals in each of those five encounters.

That becomes even more impressive when analyzing that some of those wins came against potential playoff contenders such as the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers.

The team’s biggest strength could be what propels them to victory in this matchup. The Sharks are coming off a 4-1 win over the Hurricanes, but that victory snapped a two-game losing skid. With three losses in their last five outings, the U.S. side might not be good enough to unsettle a red-hot Toronto squad.

Additionally, San Jose have scored only 85 goals in 30 meetings so far. They own the second-worst attacking record among potential playoff clubs in the Western Conference. Ultimately, the Sharks won’t be good enough to contain the Maple Leafs playing in a tough environment like Toronto.

Even though the Maple Leafs should find a way to get the win, it looks incredibly hard to see them slowing down Celebrini. The 19-year-old phenom has been a nightmare matchup for any team in the league, and the numbers back that up.

Celebrini picked up one goal and two assists in the 4-1 win over the Hurricanes on Dec. 6. Even though he’s more of a playmaker than a scorer, he still has 15 goals this season. If any player can break through the Maple Leafs’ strong defence, that’s Celebrini.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs San Jose Sharks Same Game Parlay

For our three-leg parlay, we believe the Maple Leafs will extend their winning run. The Sharks have shown promise with Celebrini leading the way, but Toronto should prove too much for them. The Canadian side have the experience, the rest, the home-ice advantage, and the form to leave the points at home.

Celebrini should find a way to make an impact, though, and he’s a strong candidate to crack the scoresheet.

He ranks second in the NHL with 43 points. With eight assists in his last six games, Celebrini should be involved enough to potentially record at least one assist. His playmaking has been tough to decipher for opposing defences.

Last but not least, we have John Tavares finding the back of the net for Toronto. William Nylander might be the Maple Leafs’ scoring leader with 32 points, but Tavares has 30, including 13 goals. He has only registered two goals in his previous nine outings, but this looks like a favourable matchup for him to snap his slump.

Toronto Maple Leafs Team News

The Maple Leafs shouldn’t have many changes compared to recent encounters, as their injury situation remains the same. None of their players dealing with ailments are expected back for this matchup.

The list shows that the issues for the Maple Leafs lie between the posts and on defence. Goaltenders Anthony Stolarz (upper body) and Joseph Woll (lower body) are both out. Chris Tanev (upper body), Brandon Carlo (lower body), Dakota Mermis (lower body), and Marshall Rifai (wrist) are also sidelined.

Mermis and Rifai are considered day-to-day. Both players are going to be game-time calls for this one.

The Sharks have several absences as well. Veteran goaltender Carey Price (knee) and playmaker Logan Couture (groin) would be contributors if healthy, but both are going to miss the rest of the 2025-26 season.

Defenceman Ryan Ellis (back) and Vincent Desharnais (upper body) are ruled out, as is centre Michael Misa (lower body). Timothy Liljegren is considered a game-time call since he’s dealing with a lower-body problem.
