Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: Colorado Avalanche
Game 1 of the series between the Avalanche and Wild was everything you could’ve asked for from a postseason clash – and then some. It featured a flurry of goals (15 in total in a 9-6 win for the Avs), physicality (a 26-24 edge in hits for Colorado), 18 combined PIM and five goals scored in each period.
While Game 2 is unlikely to reach the same level of chaos, mainly because both teams should tighten up defensively, one thing is clear: the Avalanche are in a strong position to go up 2-0 in the series before it moves to St. Paul.
They were nearly unstoppable at home in the regular season, posting a W26, L9, OT6 record.

The Wild seemed to struggle with the altitude in Denver and appeared fatigued by the third period, where they were outscored 4-1. Despite the 15-goal opener, no changes are expected in the goaltending department.
Scott Wedgewood (2.15 GAA, .920 save percentage) should get the nod for the Avalanche, while Jesper Wallstedt (2.81 GAA, .903 save percentage) is set to start for Minnesota.
It would be unrealistic to expect 15 goals in Game 2, but the Wild are bound to struggle defensively once again. Colorado are looking as dangerous as ever on offence, with Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon thriving, and that should be enough to carry them to an early 2-0 lead in the series.
Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Nathan MacKinnon over 1.5 points
While Cale Makar and Devon Toews grabbed headlines following the series opener, the Avalanche still live and die by the contributions of Nathan MacKinnon on offence. The star playmaker recorded three points in Game 1, courtesy of one goal and two assists.
He’s posted back-to-back three-point performances in his last two playoff appearances. If he stays hot, he should be able to hit this line for a third straight game.
Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild Same Game Parlay
- SGP: Over 6.5 goals + Cale Makar over 0.5 points + Quinn Hughes over 0.5 points
Expecting another 15-goal outburst is unrealistic. However, this clash could still hit the over in total goals. There’s just too much talent on both offensive lines to believe this could go any other way, and the subpar goaltending on both ends in Game 1 supports that idea as well.
The Avalanche are averaging 4.4 goals per game in the playoffs, the best mark in the league, while the Wild are close behind at 4.14. With the prospect of a high-scoring encounter, expect offensive contributions from the blue line, particularly from Makar and Quinn Hughes.

Makar recorded two goals and three points in the series opener and has now racked up five points in his last three appearances (four goals, one assist) after going pointless in his first two playoff outings.
Hughes has been even more productive and currently leads all skaters in playoff scoring with 11 points, courtesy of three goals and eight assists.

Colorado Avalanche Team News
The Avalanche are quite close to full strength. Joel Kiviranta (undisclosed) and Josh Manson (upper body) are both game-time decisions.
The Avs could make some tweaks to their defensive line after allowing six goals in the series opener, but significant lineup changes are unlikely. That’s especially true after they became the fifth team in NHL history to get at least 10 points from defencemen in a playoff game – and first since the 1984-85 season.
Minnesota Wild Team News
The Wild’s lineup remains largely unchanged compared to recent games, as they’re still without Jonas Brodin and Joel Eriksson Ek due to lower-body injuries. Both players are expected to return later this month.
Despite allowing nine goals in the series opener, the Wild are unlikely to make major defensive changes. Instead, they should continue to rely on their offensive prowess to turn things around.
