The HFX Wanderers have been wildly inconsistent in recent weeks. They’re coming off a dominant 4-1 win over Inter Toronto and have now won two in a row, but prior to that, they had suffered back-to-back losses, including a 4-3 defeat to Pacific.

Their recent record has been far from ideal, as the Wanderers have lost five of their last 10 league outings (W3, D2, L5) while conceding 1.8 goals per game during that stretch.

Atletico Ottawa haven’t fared much better and are looking to turn the page following an ugly 2-0 home loss to Supra du Quebec last time out. That was their second consecutive defeat and third straight match without a win (D1, L2). Ottleti have also failed to score in any of their last three games.

Even though both teams have reliable scoring weapons in Isaiah Johnston (11 goals) and Ballou Tabla (nine goals), respectively, I’m backing Johnston since the hosts should find a way to get all three points.

Johnston’s numbers in recent weeks have been excellent. He scored a brace in the 4-1 win over Inter Toronto and has been red-hot, with four goals in his last three league appearances.

Hitting the over on the 3.5-goal market is also realistic. While the line has hit in three of Halifax’s last four games, the last two H2Hs have also produced at least three goals. Furthermore, these two teams rank second and third for matches featuring over 3.5 goals in the current CPL campaign.
