The Rapids are in dire need of a bounce-back performance following their recent results. They’ve dropped their last two games and looked completely outplayed against Los Angeles FC in their most recent outing, losing 3-0 while posting a mere 0.13 xG. 

They struggled to create chances, so it wasn’t surprising to see LAFC win. That was Colorado’s third loss in their last five MLS matches.

The Rapids should be happy to return home since they have a sizable advantage due to the altitude conditions of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. 

However, they’ve failed to make that edge count recently, losing three of their last four fixtures there and failing to score in two of those three defeats. The silver lining is that Colorado are unbeaten in their last four home meetings with Vancouver.

The team will be without Sam Vines due to a groin injury, but they should have enough depth on the defensive end to weather his absence. The bigger blow is a knee injury to Zack Steffen, who’s expected to miss the rest of the season. Djordje Mihailovic and Rafael Navarro are likely to lead the attacking line once again.

The guests are expected to be quite shorthanded for this clash. Key players such as Andrés Cubas and Ryan Gauld are sidelined due to injuries, while Jayden Nelson is suspended. 

Ali Ahmed and Sam Adekugbe are also set to miss the meeting due to ankle and Achilles injuries, respectively. The lack of depth could conspire against the Whitecaps, as they also played in midweek.
