Carolina Hurricanes vs Montreal Canadiens Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: Carolina Hurricanes
- Odds: +135 (Tonybet)
The Hurricanes have played three games this season and have had an uneven start with a 1-1-1 record (W1, L1, OT1). They kicked things off with an overtime loss to the Florida Panthers on opening night, lost to the Washington Capitals, and then bounced back with an overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Canadiens have played just two games so far, recording a win and an overtime loss. They opened the campaign with a 3-2 away victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs before stumbling to a 6-5 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a back-and-forth contest.

The goaltending matchup should see Brandon Bussi going against Jakub Dobes. Neither has been particularly dominant. Dobes has a 4.04 GAA and an .862 save percentage for the Habs, while Bussi has a much better 2.88 GAA but with an equally disappointing .872 save percentage. It’s hard to rely on either defence right now.
One of the Hurricanes’ main issues so far has been their offensive play, as they’ve scored just five goals in their opening three games. Meanwhile, Montreal have found the back of the net eight times in just two. However, Carolina have been underperforming and should find a way to bounce back while taking advantage of Montreal’s defensive struggles.
Carolina Hurricanes vs Montreal Canadiens Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Sebastian Aho to score anytime
As much as the Hurricanes’ offence has struggled, Sebastian Aho has been a bright spot. The star centre has scored three of the team’s five goals this season and has been directly involved in four, so it’s safe to say the offence has been going through him early in the campaign.
Aho is coming off a three-point performance against the Flyers, where he scored twice in regulation and delivered one of the assists on Shayne Gostisbehere’s overtime winner. Given that he’s scored in the two games in which Carolina have found the back of the net this season, I’m backing Aho to continue his impressive start to the campaign.
Carolina Hurricanes vs Montreal Canadiens Same Game Parlay
- SGP: Over 5.5 goals + Cole Caufield over 2.5 shots + Sebastian Aho over 2.5 shots
The Hurricanes’ last two games have produced at least five goals, and the same goes for the two the Canadiens have played. Given that neither team have looked particularly solid defensively, with .877 (Carolina) and .862 (Montreal) save percentages, another high-scoring matchup could be on the cards.

I’m also backing two prolific forwards to make their presence felt: Aho and Cole Caufield. Aho has scored three of Carolina’s five goals this season and has taken at least two shots in every outing, surpassing the 2.5-mark twice already. As for Caufield, he’s attempted at least three shots in his first two games and should remain an active threat in the Habs‘ attack.

Carolina Hurricanes Team News
The Hurricanes are close to full strength, but their two absences are significant. They’re without defenceman Alexander Nikishkin, who has yet to sign a new deal with the club. The 24-year-old played in 81 regular-season games in 2025-26, recording 11 goals, 22 assists, 132 hits, 94 blocked shots, and 33 PIM.

Carolina will also be without key forward Seth Jarvis, as the 24-year-old winger is currently on non-roster injured reserve due to a shoulder injury after undergoing surgery in June. The optimistic timeline is a return in late October, but it remains to be seen if he hits that mark. Jarvis had 32 goals, 66 points, 224 shots on net, and 81 hits in 71 games for the Hurricanes during the 2025-26 regular season.
Montreal Canadiens Team News
Alexandre Carrier is questionable for this matchup with an undisclosed injury and is considered day-to-day, so his status will be decided after Tuesday’s morning skate. The same goes for centre Oliver Kapanen, who’s nursing a lower-body injury.

The Canadiens have several other players ruled out. Confirmed absences include defencemen Kaiden Guhle (groin) and Bryce Pickford (undisclosed), as well as forward Lucas Condotta (undisclosed). None of these three should play big roles in the lineup when they’re fit.
