Boston Bruins vs Winnipeg Jets Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: Winnipeg Jets
- Odds: +134 (Tonybet)
There are a lot of uncertainties around the Jets right now, and the biggest one seems to be their pressing issue with Connor Hellebuyck, as the star goaltender is suspended and away from the team while pushing for a trade. This comes after a 2025-26 regular season in which Winnipeg went W35, L35, OT12 while missing the playoffs just one year after winning the Presidents’ Trophy in 2024-25.
Opening the 2026-27 campaign with a win would be huge for a Jets side looking for answers, but they’ll have a tough opponent in the Bruins. Boston already opened their 2026-27 season with a 3-0 shutout win over the New York Rangers. The goal is clear – they want to build off a 2025-26 season in which the team returned to the playoffs. Their season opener was undoubtedly a step in the right direction.

Without Hellebuyck between the posts, the goaltending matchup evens out. The Jets are expected to hand their Opening Night nod to Stuart Skinner, who signed a two-year contract in the offseason, to replace him. Meanwhile, the Bruins should send Jeremy Swayman, who posted a 24-save shutout effort in the win over the Rangers.
Skinner had a 23-17-9 record, a 2.92 GAA, and an .888 save percentage across 50 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Meanwhile, Swayman went 31-18-4 with a 2.71 GAA, a .907 save percentage, and two shutouts across 55 regular-season outings.
Boston have the edge, but the Jets have a better lineup and home-ice advantage, so I’m backing the hosts to open the season with a victory.
Boston Bruins vs Winnipeg Jets Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Kyle Connor 1+ goals
- Odds: +143 (Tonybet)
If the Jets are going to open their season with a victory, Kyle Connor will need to deliver a strong performance against a defensive unit that didn’t allow a single goal in its season opener. However, the 29-year-old represents Winnipeg’s best chance to find the back of the net.
Connor scored a team-high 39 goals last season while adding 53 assists for 92 points in the 2025-26 regular season. He also enters the 2026-27 season only five goals away from tying Ilya Kovalchuk for second place in Jets/Atlanta Thrashers franchise history. He’s expected to be heavily involved on offence for Winnipeg.
Boston Bruins vs Winnipeg Jets Same Game Parlay
- SGP: Jets to win + Over 5.5 goals + Mark Scheifele 3+ shots
I’m targeting a high-scoring, back-and-forth contest for this three-leg parlay. The Jets won’t have Hellebuyck, and Swayman isn’t likely to produce a dominant performance in back-to-back outings, which supports the over 5.5 goals. Winnipeg scored 2.79 goals per game in 2025-26, while Boston averaged 3.27, the 10th-best mark league-wide.

I’m also backing the Jets to win, since the atmosphere and adrenaline of the season opener should offset the Bruins’ edge in the 2025-26 numbers. Boston were the better team of the two last season, but the Jets’ home-ice advantage, along with the Bruins’ trip from Boston to Winnipeg, are factors you can’t overlook.
Additionally, Mark Scheifele should be heavily involved in this matchup. The star playmaker might not be the scoring threat Kyle Connor is, but he’s the engine that keeps the Winnipeg offence running. After a 2025-26 season in which he recorded a career-high 103 points while averaging 2.13 shots per game, look for the veteran centre to be a constant offensive threat for the Jets.

Boston Bruins Team News
The Bruins added JJ Peterka as their most significant offseason acquisition. The 24-year-old winger scored 25 goals for Utah last season and is projected to skate on Boston’s top line alongside Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak.

As for absences, the Bruins are listing Charlie McAvoy as suspended, and he’ll miss the first six games of the 2026-27 regular season, meaning the earliest he can return to action is October 13. The lone injury concern is centre Matthew Poitras, who remains on the IR list with a lower-body injury.
Winnipeg Jets Team News
The Jets will have to make a game-time call on the availability of Garrett Brown, who’s dealing with a lower-body injury. Friday’s morning skate will determine whether he’ll be able to play. Hellebuyck is suspended, but his situation remains fluid, and he’s not expected to join the team any time soon.
🤗 Clay Stevenson on teaming up with Stuart Skinner:

With Hellebuyck out, Skinner should remain the Jets’ No. 1 goaltender moving forward. The other absentees are Walker Duehr (lower body) and Elias Salomonsson (shoulder), and both are projected to return in mid-October in a best-case scenario.
