FC Barcelona vs Valencia Preview and Team News
FC Barcelona Team News
It’s clear that Barcelona aren’t going through their dream start to the 2025-26 La Liga campaign.
While they looked flat-out dominant in their 3-0 road win over Mallorca in the season opener, their subsequent two performances have left much to be desired. Even though Barça remain undefeated through three matches, they seem to be miles away from the side that cruised to the La Liga title last season.
The Blaugrana were fortunate to secure a comeback win over Levante thanks to a stoppage-time goal, and there’s still a lot of talk about the Lamine Yamal penalty that allowed them to snatch a point against Rayo Vallecano.

They played their first three games on the road, though, so they still deserve credit for grinding out results. This will be their “home” opener, but it’ll be played at Estádi Johan Cruyff since the Camp Nou isn’t ready to open its doors yet.
Barcelona have quite a few injuries ahead of this clash. Alex Balde (hamstring) and Frenkie de Jong (leg) aren’t expected to be risked. Dani Rodríguez (undisclosed), Gavi (knee), Marc Bernal (knee), and Marc-André ter Stegen (back) remain sidelined. Robert Lewandowski is likely to start on the bench again, with Ferran Torres leading the way up front.
FC Barcelona predicted lineup vs Valencia (4-2-3-1): Joan García; Koundé, Éric García, Cubarsí, Gerard Martín; Marc Casado, Pedri; Yamal, Dani Olmo, Raphinha; Ferran Torres.
Valencia Team News
Even though Valencia have lacked consistency in their first three matches of the campaign (W1, D1, L1), it’s clear the team is moving in the right direction. They deserved better luck in their draw against Real Sociedad and should’ve taken a point in their trip to Osasuna, but they bounced back admirably with a huge win over Getafe before the international break.
That victory was also the first game in which manager Carlos Corbalán shifted from a 4-4-2 to a 4-2-3-1 approach, and the results were excellent – particularly in attack.

The increased width improved their wide play, and the left-side partnership of José Gayà and Arnaut Danjuma already proved to be a hit. The presence of Baptiste Santamaria also provided much-needed balance in midfield.
Adding to the positive outlook, Valencia are close to full strength on the injury front. The only notable concern is Thierry Correia, but the right-back has a strong chance of making the bench after leaving an ACL injury in the rear view. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the club deploy the exact same XI that defeated Getafe.
Valencia predicted lineup vs FC Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Agirrezabala; Foulquier, Diakhaby, Tárrega, Gayá; Javi Guerra, Santamaria; Rioja, Diego López, Danjuma; Hugo Duro.

FC Barcelona vs Valencia Prediction, Odds
- Pick: Valencia to cover +2 handicap
- Odds: -118 (Tonybet)
- Correct score prediction: FC Barcelona 2-1 Valencia
There’s no question that Barcelona should be considered the overwhelming favourites. Even if they aren’t at full strength, and with the added wrinkle of having to play at a secondary home venue, their overall quality and impressive collection of attacking talent should be enough to remain undefeated and get past the challenge of Valencia.
That said, this is unlikely to be the kind of one-sided game the Blaugrana enjoyed against Mallorca.

Their recent performances against Levante and Rayo Vallecano have shown that they’re more vulnerable than expected, and Valencia have been on the upswing as well. Hansi Flick’s men should still be able to get the win, but it may not come by a comfortable margin.
Thus, Valencia look well-positioned to cover the two-goal handicap. They’ve managed to do so in their first three matches of the 2025-26 La Liga campaign, and Barcelona haven’t won by multiple goals in two of their three outings as well. It wouldn’t be surprising if this encounter ends up being tighter than expected.
FC Barcelona vs Valencia Betting Tip
- Pick: Under 1.5 goals in the first half
- Odds: -110 (Tonybet)
Only one of Barcelona’s three matches in the current league campaign has featured under 1.5 goals in the first half, though that could happen here as well. Valencia represent the toughest defensive test to date for them, and given that Barça have failed to score two or more goals before the break in their last two fixtures, another slow start could be in order here.
