USA vs Sweden Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: USA
Even though the USA haven’t reached the same levels of dominance as Canada, a team that won their first three round-robin games while scoring a whopping 20 goals, it’s hard to argue that the Americans haven’t been among the tournament’s standout sides so far.
That was largely expected, given the impressive collection they have at both ends of the ice.
With wins over Latvia (W 5-1), Germany (W 5-1), and Denmark (W 6-3), one thing that has stood out is that the Stars and Stripes have yet to record a shutout despite facing three clearly inferior opponents.
The U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team’s quarterfinal matchup is set. Team USA will face Sweden tomorrow (Feb. 18) at 3:10 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock! #WinterOlympics pic.twitter.com/AihAYjkokI

That should be music to the ears of the Swedish side, who happen to have an elite attacking line filled with NHL-calibre talent. The USA haven’t faced a squad of Tre Kronor’s quality so far in the tournament.
The Scandinavian team should bring plenty of intensity, but the fact that they already played on Tuesday will make things difficult for them, especially when it comes to maintaining that intensity in the latter stages of the contest. The Stars and Stripes should find a way to grab the lead and never look back.

Even if Sweden, who are averaging 4.0 goals scored per encounter in the Olympics so far, end up posing a major threat, this is the USA’s game to lose. Expect the American squad to clinch a spot in the semifinals even if they have to work harder than expected.
USA vs Sweden Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Matthew Tkachuk over 0.5 assists
Matthew Tkachuk has yet to find the back of the net in the current Olympic campaign, but the Florida Panthers winger has found other ways to be productive.
He’s thriving as a playmaker, having recorded five assists in three games, and ranks second among all skaters in that category. Tkachuk should find a way to keep that streak alive.
USA vs Sweden Same Game Parlay
- SGP: Over 5.5 goals + Lucas Raymond over 0.5 assists + Auston Matthews over 0.5 goals
Our three-leg parlay points toward a high-scoring matchup. On one hand, Sweden have scored at least five goals in three of their four Olympic contests, and their offensive ability is well tested. The USA might be the better team, but they’re far from perfect defensively.
In fact, they allowed five goals in the group stage and have yet to record a shutout.
We’re pairing the likelihood of a high-scoring clash with two of the tournament’s best players finding a way to get on the scoresheet.
Lucas Raymond’s offensive style of play:
Primary: ELITE playmaker with QB-like vision & genius IQ. Patient & efficient manipulation of defenses. Exploits them explosively.
Secondary: Goal scoring & forcheck
Smells blood like a shark

Lucas Raymond has been an elite playmaker for Sweden, with eight points so far in four games (one goal, seven assists).
Auston Matthews hasn’t been as productive as Raymond overall, but he’s been deadly in front of goal. The Toronto Maple Leafs star has three goals and five total points so far in the Olympics, and he’s just one goal shy of tying the top players in this category. Matthews leads the USA in goals and co-leads in points.
USA vs Sweden Team News
USA Team News
The USA won’t have any notable absences, and perhaps the lone doubt for the Stars and Stripes would be who will get the nod between the posts. Connor Hellebuyck has delivered some steady performances so far, and the 32-year-old is the No. 1 candidate to get the start on Wednesday.
Team USA are unlikely to make major adjustments to their lines, even if Sweden represent their toughest opponent to date. The two players to watch are Matthew Tkachuk and Auston Matthews, who lead the team in points with five, while star playmaker Jack Eichel has four.
Sweden Team News
Similar to the USA, Sweden aren’t expected to make drastic changes to the lines that have already featured in four different games. Tired legs could be an issue following Tuesday’s win over Latvia, however, so minor late adjustments closer to the puck drop can’t be ruled out yet.
It’s unclear who will get the nod between the posts. The team will need to rely on Lucas Raymond, William Nylander, and Mika Zibanejad if they are to pull off an upset. The majority of the Swedish roster has plenty of NHL experience, which should make things a bit more complicated for the USA compared to their previous contests.
