Edmonton Oilers vs San Jose Sharks Main Match Info

Edmonton Oilers vs San Jose Sharks Moneyline Prediction

The Oilers bounced back from their back-to-back home losses to the New Jersey Devils (2-1) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (6-2) by defeating the Washington Capitals (6-5) and the Anaheim Ducks (7-4)

Edmonton did what they do best to get back to winning ways, which is to rely on their offence that ranks third in the league in goals per game (3.44) and first in power-play percentage (31.8 percent).

That effectiveness in front of goal and the ability to take advantage of power-play situations are two traits that make the Oilers heavy favourites.

They’ll be squaring up against San Jose, who rank among the worst defensive sides in the NHL, allowing 3.43 goals per contest (the fourth-worst mark in the NHL) while ranking 24th in penalty killing (77.7 percent).

Essentially, the Sharks concede a goal in one of four power-play situations they face, while the Oilers score in nearly one-third of the power-play scenarios they generate. Winning the battle of special teams is absolutely crucial in today’s NHL, and Edmonton have a huge advantage in this regard.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Oilers are among the best home sides in the league this season with a W14, L8, OT4 record.

Meanwhile, the Sharks’ road woes are well documented, with a W13, L12 away record. The fact that Edmonton will be playing at home while San Jose will be on the road for the fifth time in their last six games should also tip the scales toward the Oilers.

It’d be extremely easy to mention Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl as options to crack the scoresheet in this game, but Zach Hyman deserves recognition for the way he’s been playing of late.

The 33-year-old winger is going through his most prolific stretch of the season and could very well continue his scoring exploits against a struggling defence like San Jose’s.

Hyman recorded a power-play goal and an even-strength assist in Monday’s 7-4 win over the Ducks, giving him back-to-back multi-point performances and 12 points (eight goals, four assists) over his last nine appearances.

He’s also recorded five multi-point performances in that stretch. He looks like a good candidate to find the back of the net here – especially considering the opposition he’ll be facing.

Edmonton Oilers vs San Jose Sharks Same Game Parlay

For our three-leg parlay, we’ll be focusing on three elite players who are capable of cracking the scoresheet every time they step on the ice.

These are Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and young phenom Macklin Celebrini. All three rank in the top five in the NHL in total points.

McDavid leads the NHL in points with 92 and has been on an absolute tear all season long. He’s failed to crack the scoresheet just four times since the beginning of December, tallying an impressive 56-point haul (22 goals, 34 assists) in only 28 games.

As for Draisaitl, he has seven assists over his last two encounters and is fifth in points (74) and assists (49).

Last but not least, Celebrini has recorded seven points over his last five outings (three goals, four assists) and leads the Sharks in goals (27), points (78), assists (51), plus-minus rating (+14), and points per game (1.53).

Celebrini is coming off a four-point effort against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, with one goal and three assists.

Edmonton Oilers vs San Jose Sharks Team News

Edmonton Oilers Team News

The Oilers are one of the healthiest teams in the NHL right now, and they’ll be close to full strength for this contest. The lone concern is veteran centre Adam Henrique, who’s on LTIR due to an undisclosed injury and won’t return until after the Olympic break.

San Jose Sharks Team News

The Sharks will be without several players for this contest. The list includes Kiefer Sherwood (upper body), Shakir Mukhamadullin (upper body), Philipp Kurashev (upper body), and Ty Dellandrea (lower body), though all should return in the coming days. Logan Couture (groin) and Carey Price (knee) have already been ruled out for the rest of the 2025-26 season.
