Tampa Bay Lightning vs Winnipeg Jets Main Match Info

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Winnipeg Jets Moneyline Prediction

The Lightning have been one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference in recent weeks, as evidenced by their impressive W8, L1, OT1 record over their last 10 outings.

They suffered an 8-5 defeat against the Columbus Blue Jackets in one of the highest-scoring games of the season on January 24, but bounced back quickly with a 2-0 win over the Utah Mammoth on Monday, January 26.

One of the main reasons why the Lightning have been so good of late lies in the stellar play of their goaltender, Andrei Vasilevskiy.

He posted a 28-save shutout in the win over Utah on Monday and owns an 8-0-1 record, with a 1.41 GAA and an impressive .939 save percentage, over his nine starts in January.

The Lightning are more than an elite defence that ranks second in goals allowed per game (2.51) this season. They also sit second in the league in goals scored (3.45), and that efficiency on both ends of the ice is hard to find. The Jets might own a W6, L2, OT2 record over their last 10 contests, but it’s hard to see them having the weapons to counter a red-hot Lightning team that also have the advantage of playing at home.

Kucherov is more of a playmaker than a scorer, as evidenced by his 26 goals and 54 assists for 80 points in 47 regular-season appearances. Still, he remains a massive threat in front of the opposing goal and is a candidate to record multiple shots in almost every encounter.

The star winger has recorded over 2.5 shots in his last two outings and five of his last eight, so there’s enough body of work to believe he might hit this line. He’s also averaging 2.9 shots per game in the 2025-26 campaign.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Winnipeg Jets Same Game Parlay

Even though the Lightning have the second-best offence in the NHL this season, the goaltending matchup will be absolutely spectacular between Vasilevskiy and Connor Hellebuyck. With two of the best netminders going head-to-head, a low-scoring outcome seems likely. Four of Tampa Bay’s last five outings have produced under 5.5 total goals.

Still, even in a tight, defence-driven contest, two of the best players on the ice could find a way to crack the scoresheet.

Nikita Kucherov continues to drive Tampa Bay’s attack and has been sensational of late, posting 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in his ongoing six-game point streak.

On the other side, Kyle Connor reached the 60-point mark this season after registering two assists in Tuesday’s 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils. He’s recorded 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in his 14 appearances since the beginning of January.

Tampa Bay Lightning Team News

The Lightning are waiting to see whether blueliner Ryan McDonagh, who’s dealing with a lower-body injury and has missed the team’s last 15 games, will be available for this contest. A decision on his status will be made closer to puck drop on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.

Several defencemen have already been ruled out, including Charlie-Edouard D’Astous (lower body), Victor Hedman (elbow), and Emil Lilleberg (undisclosed). Hedman’s absence is significant, though it is outweighed by the loss of Brayden Point. The star centre is out with a lower-body injury but should return to action before the Olympic break.

Winnipeg Jets Team News

The Jets have three players sidelined, and all three are defencemen. The list includes Haydn Fleury (upper body), Colin Miller (knee), and Neal Pionk (lower body). Among them, Pionk carries the largest role, having recorded two goals and eight total points across 40 regular-season appearances.
