The Flames are going through a very prolific stretch on offence and have been playing at a very high level in recent days. The best example of their uptick in form is their ongoing three-game winning streak, which also happens to be their longest of the current campaign. 

Undoubtedly, this strong run of play from Calgary has been carried on by their offence. Several players have elevated their performances, and the results are speaking for themselves.

During their ongoing three-game winning run, the Flames have scored a whopping 13 goals, with seven of those coming in Monday’s victory over the Sabres. Calgary had suffered two losses before this streak, but overall, they’ve won seven of their last 10 (W7, D2, OT1). 

That impressive form over the past few weeks and home-ice advantage are deciding factors for their favouritism against a Detroit team that are set to play a fourth straight outing on the road.

The Red Wings have done a good job of late, posting a W2, OT1 record during their current trip. However, they had to play a shootout in their 6-5 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and their defence hasn’t looked convincing in their two wins. 

They allowed three goals in a 4-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken, and even in their 4-0 shutout win over the Canucks, they gave up 39 shots on goal. 

Expecting your goalie to make 35+ saves every encounter on the road isn’t a recipe for success. That streak should end here, and considering how hot the Flames have been lately, Calgary should have enough quality to get the win.

The Flames have had several players experience turnarounds following a slow start to the season. However, no player has been more decisive for Calgary of late than Coronato. 

The 23-year-old winger has been excellent thanks to his vision, skill on the puck, and keen eye for making a difference against opposing defences.

Coronato dished out two assists in the 7-4 win over the Sabres on Monday, and both helpers came on the power play. Coronato had a hand in the goals scored by Rasmus Andersson in the first period and Jonathan Huberdeau in the second. 

But his uptick in form isn’t only due to his two assists in the most recent outing. He’s been playing at a high level for a while now.

Coronato has two multi-point performances in the Flames’ last three games, and it’s safe to say that he’s going through his most prolific start to the campaign. He’s up to five goals and 11 points in his last 12 contests, including three goals and two helpers on the power play.

Considering the sizzling attack of the Flames and the struggles the Red Wings have had on defence, it wouldn’t be surprising if this meeting has more than 4.5 total goals. That has happened in three of the last four games for both teams, setting up the stage nicely. 

Detroit are a tired squad and might struggle to deal with the Flames’ pace and physicality of their top-six forwards.

One of those forwards, Nazem Kadri, is certainly a player to watch. Kadri is coming off posting three points (one goal, two assists) in the win over the Sabres, and he’s up to eight points (two goals, six helpers) over Calgary’s previous six outings.
