Calgary Flames vs Toronto Maple Leafs Main Match Info

Calgary Flames vs Toronto Maple Leafs Moneyline Prediction

Neither the Flames nor the Maple Leafs have been playing well lately. Even though both teams are coming off wins on Saturday, their recent records have been subpar at best.

Calgary’s victory over the San Jose Sharks moved them to a W4, L4, OT2 record over their last 10 contests. Meanwhile, Toronto had to work hard to get past the Vancouver Canucks on a shootout, and even that win got them a mere W2, L6, OT2 over the same stretch.

The Maple Leafs’ main problems have come on the defensive side of the puck. No squad in the Eastern Conference (and only two overall) have conceded more than their 190 goals.

They rank 29th in goals allowed per game (3.44), but on paper, this is a favourable matchup for a struggling Toronto defence. The Flames rank dead last in the NHL in goals scored per game (2.48) and in total (136).

Calgary will rely on their above-average defence to get the job done, as they rank 12th in goals allowed per contest (2.96), although the Maple Leafs are 11th in goals scored (3.24).

There isn’t much separating the teams, but the Flames may hold a slight edge at home, as Toronto have the worst away record in the Eastern Conference (W9, L12, OT3). This shapes up as a close matchup, but Calgary’s home-ice advantage could be the deciding factor.

If the Flames are to come out on top, Backlund is one of the players who will need to step up and make an impact offensively. The 36-year-old veteran delivered an assist in the win over the Sharks on Saturday and has two helpers in his last three games, a trend that could continue here given Toronto’s defensive woes.

Calgary Flames vs Toronto Maple Leafs Same Game Parlay

Even though the Flames are excellent defensively and downright bad on offence, this clash could very well turn into a high-scoring affair.

The Maple Leafs are going through a cold stretch offensively (2.6 goals scored per game over their last 10), but they still have enough talent to put a few goals past any defence in the league. Calgary could take advantage of Toronto’s defensive woes to do the same.

If this game does open up, a couple of players could be primed to step forward. Nazem Kadri is one of them, as the veteran Flames centre looks ready to snap his scoring drought. He’s only recorded three points (one goal, two assists) over his last 14 appearances since the beginning of January.

As for the Maple Leafs, look for John Tavares to make an impact offensively – regardless of whether he scores or not. The veteran scorer has tallied at least three shots in his last two outings and is averaging 2.4 shots per game over his last 10 appearances.

Calgary Flames Team News

The Flames will decide on John Beecher’s availability closer to the opening faceoff, as he’s listed as day-to-day due to an upper-body injury. Jake Bean (undisclosed) is sidelined until after the Olympic break.

Blake Coleman and Samuel Honzek are also out with upper-body issues and won’t return until after the Olympics. Honzek has already been confirmed as sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. Prospects Henry Mews (knee) and Cullen Potter (upper body) are out for the rest of the 2025-26 campaign.

Toronto Maple Leafs Team News

The Maple Leafs will make a late call on Morgan Rielly’s availability, as he’s listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury sustained in the shootout win over the Canucks on Saturday. His absence would be significant, as the 31-year-old defenceman has recorded 31 points (seven goals, 24 assists) this season.

Dakota Joshua (upper body) and Chris Tanev (groin) remain sidelined and won’t return until after the Olympic break. Both players have been out for quite some time, so their absences won’t affect the team’s lineup too much.
