Montreal Canadiens vs Calgary Flames Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens have been trending in the right direction and enter this fixture fresh off an impressive 4-3 overtime win over a reeling Dallas Stars side on Sunday.
As poorly as the Stars have been playing lately, they’re still one of the best teams in the Western Conference and a bona fide Stanley Cup contender. That win also means Montreal have won three of their last four contests.
The Flames, on the other hand, have been trending in the wrong direction and are coming off back-to-back losses against the Nashville Predators and Seattle Kraken. Their biggest issue in those two outings was their defensive play, as they conceded at least four goals each time.

That trend is somewhat surprising since Calgary rank 12th in the league in goals allowed per game (2.95).
This is going to be a battle between a top offence and a solid defensive side. The Canadiens rank fifth in goals scored per encounter at 3.31, while the Flames are a top-12 defence.
The former, however, have several things going in their favour ahead of this matchup. They hold a sizable advantage in special teams, ranking eighth in power-play efficiency (23.8 percent), whereas Calgary have the worst power-play offence in the NHL (14.5 percent).
Given the Canadiens’ stronger recent record, as they’ve taken points in eight of their last 10 games (6-2-2) compared to the Flames’ six (6-4-0), along with their home-ice advantage, it’s not surprising to see Montreal as favourites to secure the victory in this all-Canadian matchup.
Montreal Canadiens vs Calgary Flames Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Juraj Slafkovský over 0.5 goals
The Canadiens will need their star players to step up if they’re to get the win against an above-average defence like Calgary’s. However, if there’s one player who can wreak havoc on the opposing defence, that’s Juraj Slafkovský.
The promising 21-year-old winger recorded a goal and an assist in the win over the Stars on Sunday. He’s also posted five multi-point efforts in his last seven contests while racking up an impressive tally of 15 goals and 32 points in 42 games so far in 2025-26.
Montreal Canadiens vs Calgary Flames Same Game Parlay
- SGP: Canadiens to win + Over 4.5 goals + Lane Hutson over 0.5 assists
Our three-leg parlay backs the Canadiens to get the win, driven by their home-ice advantage and their strong recent form. With three wins in their last four games, Montreal are undoubtedly trending upward compared to a Calgary team that have lost two in a row while conceding nine goals.
This clash could very well produce at least five total goals. That mark has been hit in eight of the Canadiens’ last 10 outings and in eight of the Flames’ last nine. Only two of their last five head-to-head meetings have seen over 4.5 goals, though.
Lane Hutson on the Habs recent road trip:
• 2 goals
• 8 assists
• 10 points in 7 games
• 8 even-strength points
• 5 primary assists
• 10 blocks
• On the ice for 15 even-strength goals scored
• On the ice for 4 even-strength goals against

Last but not least, one player who could step up for Montreal is Lane Hutson. The star defenceman scored the game-winning goal against the Stars on Sunday, and aside from posting two points in that matchup, he’s racked up 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) over his last nine appearances.
Few blueliners have been as productive as Hutson around the league in that stretch.
Montreal Canadiens vs Calgary Flames Team News
Montreal Canadiens Team News
The Canadiens could enjoy the return of Josh Anderson, as the right winger is listed as day-to-day due to an upper-body injury. Kirby Dach (foot) and Kaiden Guhle (groin) are both on injured reserve, though both players will be assessed before this contest.
Left winger Jake Evans is also sidelined due to a lower-body injury, but he’s not expected to return until late January in the best-case scenario. Forwards Patrik Laine (abdomen) and Alex Newhook (ankle) are on injured reserve and won’t return until late February and mid-March, respectively.
Calgary Flames Team News
The Flames will assess goaltender Devin Cooley (illness) and centre John Beecher (upper body) before this matchup, and both players will have a chance to return to the lineup.
Unfortunately for them, defenceman Jake Bean (undisclosed) and centre Martin Pospisil (undisclosed) remain long-term absences and won’t return in the coming weeks. Samuel Honzek (upper body) will miss the rest of the regular season, and prospect Henry Mews (knee) is out until the 2026-27 campaign.
