It’s fair to say the Jets have been one of the most disappointing clubs in the Western Conference this season. The loss of Connor Hellebuyck due to injury has minimized their chances of fighting for a top spot in the West, and they’ve been playing poorly overall. The best example is their ongoing struggles, as the Jets have dropped six of their last seven contests.

Winnipeg went W1, L3, OT1 in their recent five-game road trip. Even though they’ve also lost their last two outings at Canada Life Centre, their home record in 2025-26 has been decent, with the team tallying six wins out of 11 matches (L5).

The Sabres haven’t been much better. They’re coming off a 5-2 road loss to the Philadelphia Flyers and have dropped three of their last five encounters overall (W2, L2, OT1). Buffalo might be confident about their chances since one of those wins was a 5-0 thrashing of the Jets a few days ago, but their play away from home has been disappointing, with eight defeats in their previous 10 games (W2, L6, OT2).

The 28-year-old winger scored the club’s lone goal in the 5-1 loss to the Sabres on Dec. 1 and has found the twine in three games in a row, tying his longest scoring streak of the season. 

Connor is tied for first among Jets skaters in goals with 14, sharing the team lead with Mark Scheifele. Finding the back of the net is far from an oddity for Connor, who scored 41 goals in the 2024-25 campaign. 

He’s notched at least 30 in each of his previous four seasons in which he’s logged at least 65 regular-season appearances.

For our three-game parlay, we’ll set our sights on the Jets winning a high-scoring matchup while seeing Connor making a significant impact across the board. 

Winnipeg have been slumping with only one win over their last five contests, but this team are simply too talented to struggle for much longer. They should take advantage of playing in front of their fans to get back to winning ways.

From a goalscoring perspective, it’s worth noting that the Jets’ 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens was Winnipeg’s first encounter with under 5.5 goals since the 3-0 defeat to the Wild on Nov. 23. 

As for the Sabres, they’re on a roll of 13 straight outings with at least five goals. That means there’s enough body of work to believe this clash could see at least five goals.

Last but not least, we’ll focus on Mark Scheifele cracking the scoresheet as the third and final leg of our parlay. Even though Kyle Connor has been the Jets’ most reliable player on offence of late after scoring in his last three appearances, the contributions of Scheifele can’t be overlooked. 

The playmaker is riding a four-game point streak and has cracked the scoresheet in all but one of Winnipeg’s previous nine contests, tallying 11 points (four goals, seven assists) over that stretch.

The Sabres will have three absences for this contest. Justin Danforth is out with a lower-body injury, the same as Michael Kesselring. Jiri Kulich is also sidelined with an ear injury, and he’s not expected to be back in the mix until late February at the earliest.

The Jets don’t have many absences, but they’ll be missing one of their best players since starting goaltender Connor Hellebuyck remains sidelined due to a knee injury. Hellebuyck isn’t expected to return to the ice until early January at the earliest. Haydn Fleury is dealing with a concussion and is considered a game-time decision for this contest.
