Columbus Blue Jackets vs Ottawa Senators Moneyline Prediction

While it may be a stretch to label the Blue Jackets as one of the NHL’s hottest teams, they welcome the Senators riding a four-game winning streak.

Their most recent result was a 4-3 shootout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins, and while their W5, L4, OT1 record over their last 10 outings isn’t eye-popping, their recent form has caught the eye league-wide.

The Senators, meanwhile, can’t say the same, as they’re coming off back-to-back overtime losses to the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens

Those two defeats snapped a two-game winning run. Inconsistency has hurt Ottawa’s upside thus far, as they’ve gone W4, L4, OT2 in their last 10 encounters, but they haven’t won more than twice in a row since mid-December.

Furthermore, the Senators have also gone winless in four of their last five away from home (W1, L3, OT1) while allowing 5.0 goals per contest in regulation over that stretch.

They rank 29th in the NHL in goals allowed per game (3.40), and while the Blue Jackets are only 21st in scoring (2.98 goals per fixture), Columbus’s strong play of late and Ottawa’s defensive shortcomings on the road suggest the hosts will come out on top here.

Few defencemen in the NHL are as dominant and as productive as Werenski. The star blueliner has been putting up excellent numbers of late.

He recorded an assist in the win over the Penguins and has notched six points (two goals, four assists) in his current four-game point streak.

Furthermore, Werenski has registered 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in his nine outings this month while failing to crack the scoresheet just once in that span. He’s among the best defencemen in the NHL when it comes to putting up points on the board, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he keeps his streak alive here.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Ottawa Senators Same Game Parlay

For our three-leg parlay, we’re backing the Blue Jackets to win solely based on their excellent results of late and the Senators’ struggles over the past few weeks.

This should also be a high-scoring matchup, as each of their last three head-to-head meetings has produced over 4.5 goals, just like Ottawa’s last three games and Columbus’s past four.

We’re mixing both plays with a goal from Charlie Coyle. The Blue Jackets’ playmaker has been putting up solid numbers of late, with four goals scored over his last four outings.

Columbus Blue Jackets Team News

The Blue Jackets could receive reinforcements on their blue line, as Dante Fabbro (lower body) and Denton Mateychuk (upper body) are considered day-to-day. A final decision on their availability will be made closer to Tuesday’s game. However, even if they return, they’re expected to add depth rather than significantly alter the lineup.

As for the confirmed absentees, the Blue Jackets will be without one of their most important forwards in Mason Marchment, who’s dealing with an upper-body injury and could miss the next two weeks. Isac Lundestrom (lower body), Miles Wood (leg), and Brendan Smith (knee) are also out and won’t be returning any time soon.

Ottawa Senators Team News

The Senators are among the healthiest teams in the NHL, as they’re not dealing with any injuries right now.

The lone potential absentee is goaltender Linus Ullmark, who continues to deal with a personal problem and will be a game-time call decision for Tuesday. The rest of the lineup is good to go.

The absence of Ullmark, who’s the Senators’ No. 1 goaltender when healthy, means Leevi Marilainen will remain as the starter between the pipes while James Reimer, a 37-year-old veteran, will operate as the backup until further notice.

Ullmark has gone 14-8-5 with a 2.95 GAA and an .881 save percentage across 28 appearances this season, but he was spotted in practice on January 16, so he could be due to return soon.
