Colorado Avalanche vs Vancouver Canucks Main Match Info

Colorado Avalanche vs Vancouver Canucks Moneyline Prediction

The Avalanche are coming off perhaps one of their best offensive performances of the season in a massive 9-2 rout of the Calgary Flames on Monday. That victory allowed them to bounce back from the 4-2 defeat to the Winnipeg Jets last weekend.

It also extended Colorado’s strong run of form, as they’ve now won five of their last six games and six of their last 10 overall (W6, L3, OT1).

The same can’t be said about the Canucks. They appear to be simply waiting for the season to end, as they’re already set to finish with the worst record in the Western Conference.

Their struggles continued with a 4-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, extending their losing skid to six encounters. Over their last 10 outings, Vancouver have suffered eight losses, seven of which have come in regulation by two or more goals.

Defensive issues have plagued the Canucks all season. As a result, they rank last in the league in goals allowed per game (3.77). Simply put, they don’t have enough quality to slow down the league’s highest-scoring offence (3.75 goals per game). The Avalanche should cruise their way to a comfortable victory here, especially at home against a team that have lost nine of their last 10 road outings (W1, L8, OT1).

If the Avalanche are to win convincingly, Nathan MacKinnon will likely play a central role offensively. The superstar centre is coming off a three-point performance in Monday’s win over the Flames (one goal and two assists) after being held pointless against the Jets on Saturday.

Furthermore, MacKinnon has recorded 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 15 appearances since the beginning of March and remains firmly in contention to finish the regular season as the league’s leading scorer. Once again, he should be the focal point of the Avalanche’s offence.

This clash should feature a relatively high total, but it’s unlikely to turn into a true back-and-forth offensive battle. Instead, most of the scoring should come from a Colorado team that rank first in goals per game (3.75).

Expect the Avalanche to cover the -1.5 puck line as well, meaning they should win by at least two goals. They’ve hit that mark in three of their last five wins overall.

Moreover, seven of the Canucks’ last eight road defeats – and each of their last six during their current losing skid – have come by at least two goals.

Lastly, one player who should find his way onto the scoresheet is Martin Necas. While MacKinnon draws most of the attention, Necas’ contributions have been significant.

The 27-year-old winger posted three points in Monday’s win over the Flames (one goal, two assists) and has tallied 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in 15 games since the start of March.

Colorado Avalanche Team News

The Avalanche could be without one of their top players on Wednesday, as Cale Makar exited Monday’s game against the Flames with an upper-body injury and didn’t return.

Makar should be considered day-to-day until further updates are provided, but it may not be worth risking him with the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs approaching. Nicolas Roy (upper body) is also listed as day-to-day.

Vancouver Canucks Team News

The Canucks should have the same list of absences they’ve had in recent games. Filip Chytil is on the verge of returning to the action, but this matchup will come too soon for him as he works his way back from a facial injury. He could return before the end of the regular season, though.

Derek Forbort has been ruled out with an undisclosed injury and will miss the remainder of the regular season. The same goes for veteran netminder Thatcher Demko (hip) and prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki (shoulder).
