The Spurs are returning to Paycom Center with a clear goal in mind: securing a 3-2 lead and closing out the series in San Antonio.

That won’t be easy, though, as the Thunder have been excellent at home throughout the season and hold a 5-1 record at Paycom Center in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

Still, the Spurs have been trending in the right direction. Their physicality has caused problems for OKC, and they could be in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 lead had they not wasted a 15-point lead in Game 3 at home.

The Thunder should deliver a better performance in front of their fans, but the likely absence of key contributors Ajay Mitchell and Jalen Williams could prove difficult to overcome.

OKC will rely on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning MVP, and their bench to restore the series’ lead.

However, the Spurs have shown they can consistently do damage in multiple ways, and with Victor Wembanyama dominating the opposing frontcourt, they should have a chance here. It promises to be a tight contest, but San Antonio should come away with the win.

The Thunder had no answer for Victor Wembanyama in the previous encounter. The star big man registered 33 points (11-22 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 8-9 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and two steals across 31 minutes in Sunday’s 103-82 win.

With the stakes even higher in Game 5, expect the Spurs to rely heavily on Wembanyama to make things happen on both ends of the court once again.

The Frenchman stuffed the stat sheet and chipped in at least three combined steals-plus-blocks for a sixth straight game. This was also the third time in this series he’s cleared the 43.5 P+R+A line.

Given how dominant Wembanyama has been against the Thunder’s frontcourt, another loaded stat line certainly looks on the cards.

Game 4 of the series between the Spurs and the Thunder was the lowest-scoring contest of the Western Conference Finals by a wide margin, as the two teams combined for just 185 total points.

However, San Antonio are unlikely to look this dominant defensively at home, and OKC almost certainly won’t shoot below 35% from the floor again. Expect the trend of high-scoring affairs to resume in the upcoming clash.

One player who needs to step up for the Thunder is Alex Caruso, who hit a massive wall in Sunday’s loss. The veteran guard was scoreless after posting at least 15 points in each of the previous three outings.

He’s likely to play a big role in Game 5 with his three-point shooting. Caruso has drained at least three three-pointers in three games of the series while shooting 60.9% from beyond the arc.

Stephon Castle committed 20 turnovers across the first two games of the series, but he’s improved considerably since then, recording a 13:2 assist-to-turnover ratio over the last two outings.

Given that Castle has registered at least six assists in every appearance in the series and has cleared the 6.5-assist line three times already, this looks like a strong line for the second-year guard.

The Thunder shouldn’t make significant changes to their rotation. They’ll be without Ajay Mitchell once again due to a calf injury, while Jalen Williams is carrying a questionable tag due to a hamstring issue. Missing both Mitchell and Williams would leave the Thunder without two of their top scoring weapons, considerably limiting the team’s offensive potential.

The Spurs aren’t listing any key players on their injury report ahead of Tuesday’s Game 5. Even though De’Aaron Fox has been dealing with an ankle injury, he’s slated to play and handle his regular workload. The team should be able to deploy a similar rotation to the one used in their dominant victory on Sunday.
