England vs Serbia Preview and Team News

England Team News

England seem to have left behind their disappointing 3-1 loss to Senegal at Wembley back on June 10, as they’ve bounced back with four straight wins – each won by at least two goals.

That dominance on both ends of the pitch was on full display against Serbia, when the Three Lions travelled to Belgrade to secure a dominant 5-0 victory. That was their best performance under Thomas Tuchel’s reign to date.

While it’s hard to imagine Serbia looking as bad as they did in that match, it’s easy to see why England are the favourites here once again. Not only have they gone undefeated in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying run, but they’ve yet to concede a goal in six encounters while scoring 18 goals. The team have already secured their place in next year’s event by topping Group K.

Including friendlies and the UEFA Nations League campaign, England have won nine of their previous 10 games while keeping a clean sheet in each. Excluding the disappointing loss to Senegal, the Three Lions have conceded only two goals in their last 14 outings overall. That trend should continue here since they’re massive favourites and will be playing in front of their fans.

England predicted lineup vs Serbia (4-2-3-1): Pickford; James, Guéhi, Stones, Spence; Rice, Wharton; Saka, Bellingham, Foden; Kane.

Serbia Team News

Serbia have their backs against the wall. They enter this fixture in third place with 10 points (W3, D1, L2), just one point behind Albania.

Their recent record hasn’t done them any favours. While Albania have picked up three wins and two draws in their last five games, Serbia have won the same number of matches but lost the other two.

In other words, the team must get something out of this clash to keep their chances alive ahead of the final round. That will be easier said than done, though, as their previous meeting against England ended in a 5-0 blowout loss in Belgrade.

Serbia might be undefeated in their last five away from home (W2, D3), but they’ll need to deliver their best output in years to have a shot at pulling off an upset here.

With star forward Aleksandar Mitrovic sidelined due to injury, the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Filip Kostic, and Luka Jovic will need to step up.

They’ll end their campaign against Latvia at home, but the outcome of this encounter at Wembley could make or break their 2026 FIFA World Cup dreams. This is far from a comfortable scenario for the Serbian squad, all things considered.

Serbia predicted lineup vs England (3-5-2): Petrovic; Veljkovic, Milenkovic, Pavlovic; Zivkovic, Gudelj, Lukic, Ilic, Kostic; Vlahovic, Jovic.

England vs Serbia Prediction, Odds

England boast a perfect record in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and shouldn’t be at risk of seeing that streak end here. They’ve won three qualifying matches by at least two goals, and while Serbia might be their toughest challenge to date on paper, the English side should have enough quality to cruise their way to a comfortable win here.

With six wins from their last eight home fixtures across all competitions – each by at least two goals – the Three Lions should have what it takes to get the job done here. Serbia, on the other hand, have won just three of their last 10 games on the road. Having failed to win against the likes of Albania, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland, they’re unlikely to put up much of a challenge against England.

The hosts might struggle to get things going at first, but in the end, they should be able to win while keeping a clean sheet, something they’ve done in each of their last nine victories.

England vs Serbia Betting Tip

England have yet to concede a single goal in competitive action since Tuchel’s arrival and have kept six clean sheets in six matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying run. Their defensive play has been absolutely superb, and although that run has to end at some point, it’s unlikely to happen against Serbia at home, especially given the Balkan side’s recent record on the road.

The visitors have scored four goals in three away encounters in the qualifiers, but three of those came in a 3-0 win over Andorra. Considering they had to settle for a 1-0 win in Latvia and a goalless draw in Albania, it’s hard to see them inflicting too much damage to the Three Lions – even if this is a must-win game for them.

Based on recent trends and England’s excellent defensive record, this should be a low-scoring affair.
