Barcelona are going through an injury crisis, but it seems that not even a plethora of absences can slow Hansi Flick’s team down.

Los Blaugranas extended their undefeated start to the 2025-26 season with another win, this time a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, to move into first place in the LaLiga standings.

More important than the win itself is the return of Lamine Yamal from a multi-game absence. The Spain international needed exactly one minute to assist Robert Lewandowski in the game-winning goal of that match, and he should make his way back into the starting XI for this contest. 

Barcelona desperately need the threat of the youngster in attack, given all the players they’re missing.

Los Blaugranas will be without Raphinha, Joan García, Fermín López, and Alejandro Balde, in addition to Marc-Andre ter Stegen. 

That means they’ll be forced to turn to the third-string goalkeeper, as well as backup options at left-back and left wing. That’s far from the ideal scenario when facing the reigning UCL champions. Even though both clubs are enjoying an excellent start to their domestic campaigns, Barcelona have a slight edge since they’re yet to taste defeat across all competitions, something that already happened with PSG and their loss to Marseille.

There’s no question this is going to be an intense game where both teams will try to push the lines forward and display a clear attacking intention. Despite the absences of some key players, PSG aren’t expected to sit back and play on the counter.

Both sides will be missing key players, but Barcelona have evidenced a bigger adaptability sense to navigate through absences and will be recovering Yamal, while PSG will be significantly weakened without Dembélé and Marquinhos. 

It’s going to be a tight contest, but Barcelona are favoured for good reason and should be able to win on Spanish soil.
