Arsenal vs Leeds United Preview and Team News

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal had to work harder than expected in their 2025-26 season opener, but they got off on the right foot with a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The London side enjoyed an early goal to break the deadlock, but found themselves under heavy pressure through some complicated stretches. Solid defensive play allowed Mikel Arteta’s men to escape with all three points.

The Gunners now turn their focus to their home opener on Saturday and should feel very comfortable ahead of the contest against recently promoted Leeds. Arsenal went W11, D6, L2 at the Emirates Stadium in 2024-25 and should have a psychological advantage based on recent history. They’ve won each of their previous six matches against the Whites at home across all competitions.

Arteta has a few injury concerns ahead of the clash. Ben White left the win over Manchester United with an undisclosed injury in the second half, while Christian Nørgaard missed the opener altogether with what Arteta described as a minor injury. White is expected to start, but Nørgaard remains a doubt. Arsenal aren’t likely to rush him to return given their solid depth in midfield.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Leeds United (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Ødegaard; Saka, Gyökeres, Martinelli.

Leeds United Team News

Leeds United enjoyed a strong return to England’s top flight and debuted with a 1-0 win over Everton at Elland Road.

A late second-half penalty from Lukas Nmecha was everything the Whites needed to get past the Toffees, but the stats also backed up their win. Leeds won the xG battle 2.14 to 0.80 and outshot Everton 21 to seven overall and three to one in attempts on target.

However, things are bound to get complicated for the club now that they’ll be playing on the road against title contenders Arsenal.

Aside from losing in their previous six trips to this venue, the Whites haven’t won a Premier League game away from home since March 18, 2023. They’ve also lost their last five EPL fixtures on enemy territory, so they’re expected to take a defensive-minded approach here.

Leeds should keep the starting XI intact and aren’t likely to make changes for their visit to the Emirates Stadium.

Manager Daniel Farke has no injury concerns to worry about. One of the team’s new signings, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, isn’t likely to start since he’s still building match fitness after arriving only a few days before the 2025-26 campaign opener.

Leeds United predicted lineup vs Arsenal (4-3-3): Perri; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Ampadu, Stach, Tanaka; James, Piroe, Gnonto.

Arsenal vs Leeds United Prediction, Odds

Arsenal looked far from convincing in their 1-0 win over Manchester United. However, they managed to break the deadlock relatively early and control the game afterwards.

If they were able to do that against a renewed Manchester United side at Old Trafford, the chances of them repeating that strong start in their home opener should be quite high.

Leeds United might have kicked off their season with a 1-0 victory over Everton, but they shouldn’t take too many risks here. Daniel Farke’s men will likely adopt a defensive approach against the Gunners. However, Arsenal should eventually find a way to break the deadlock at some point in the first half, as their opponents don’t have enough quality to weather the storm throughout the entire opening 45 minutes.

Arsenal vs Leeds United Betting Tip

Arsenal probably should’ve scored more than one goal against Manchester United based on all the chances they created. However, the most impressive part of their 1-0 win at Old Trafford was the clean sheet that they kept despite being under immense pressure, particularly in the second half.

The Gunners’ back line looked stout, and they should be even more dominant at home.

With that in mind, the “both teams not to score” option could be a strong play from a betting perspective. Leeds United should take a defensive approach, meaning they’re not expected to threaten David Raya often. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s impressive collection of attacking talent should break the visitors’ resistance at some point. All signs point to the hosts not conceding for the second straight Premier League match.
