The Celtics’ four-game winning streak came to an end with a 102-92 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. 

A 6-4 record over their last 10 outings isn’t exactly eye-popping, and their home record stands at 7-3 over their last 10 encounters. The three losses have come against playoff-bound teams like the Timberwolves, the Charlotte Hornets, and the New York Knicks.

Meanwhile, the Thunder are scorching hot at the moment and are doing everything they can to stay ahead of the Spurs at the top of the Western Conference standings.

Their 123-103 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday marked their 12th consecutive victory. Additionally, they have an edge in the head-to-head department, having won three straight against Boston dating back to last season.

The Celtics benefit from home-court advantage, but they recently lost to the Timberwolves at TD Garden and haven’t looked as fluid as expected since Jayson Tatum’s return. 

OKC are finally healthy, and when their offence is clicking, they can be downright unstoppable. This should be a tight, playoff-style contest, and in that setting, the Thunder appear more likely to come out on top.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has already set an NBA record for consecutive games with at least 20 points, and there is little indication that streak will end soon. 

The star guard and odds-on favourite for the MVP award could be in line for another strong showing against the Celtics, having scored 35 points on 6-for-15 shooting (but 14-15 FT) in the previous head-to-head meeting.

Gilgeous-Alexander has scored at least 35 points in four of his last seven outings and at least 26 points in eight of his 11 appearances since the All-Star break. Over that stretch, he is averaging 30.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game while shooting 55.8 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from three-point range.

Our three-leg parlay points toward a relatively low-scoring contest. The previous head-to-head meeting earlier this month ended in a 104-102 win for Oklahoma City, but the context also matters. 

These are two of the best defences in the league, and with a playoff-like atmosphere expected at TD Garden, a blowout seems unlikely.

Jaylen Brown has been the Celtics’ best player this season and looks well positioned to clear the 25.5-point line, given that he’s done so in his last four games. Since Jayson Tatum made his debut on March 6, Brown is averaging 26.3 points per contest.

We’re also adding Jalen Williams into the mix. The star forward made his long-awaited return in Monday’s win over the 76ers and recorded 18 points, four rebounds, and six assists across 20 minutes. His minutes will be monitored closely, which is why his scoring line is low, but if he continues to get involved, he should hit it relatively easily.

With the return of Jalen Williams to the hardwood, the Thunder will finally be close to full strength right when the season is approaching its end. They should also welcome back Ajay Mitchell following his one-game suspension, while Thomas Sorber is out for the rest of the season due to a knee problem. There are no other injury concerns for the Thunder.

The Celtics are enjoying the return of Tatum, who was initially set to miss the rest of the 2025-26 season due to an Achilles injury but recovered quicker than expected. The only confirmed absence is veteran centre Nikola Vucevic, who’s recovering from a finger injury and isn’t expected to return to the court until at least early April.
