Vancouver Canucks vs Anaheim Ducks Moneyline Prediction
- Moneyline Pick: Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks may be coming off a 7-4 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday, but that defeat shouldn’t overshadow how red-hot they’ve been, having won seven straight prior to that result. The team couldn’t have asked for a better opponent to turn things around, as they’ll be up against the worst defence in the NHL.
The Canucks showed signs of improvement with a win over the Washington Capitals on January 21, but they’ve lost three in a row since then and have now dropped nine of their last 10 contests in regulation (W1, L9).

They can’t seem to find a way to turn things around. Their issues mostly lie on the defensive end since they’ve allowed a league-worst 196 goals.
The Canucks’ struggles are noticeable, and even though they’ll be playing at home, they can’t seem to buy a win to save their lives. They sit in the bottom three in the league in both goals scored (30th, 2.58) and allowed (32nd, 3.68) per game. The Ducks should exploit those deficiencies to cruise to an easy win here.
Vancouver Canucks vs Anaheim Ducks Player Prop
- Prop Bet: Mikael Granlund over 1.5 shots
Granlund is coming off a hat trick in Monday’s loss to the Oilers. He should have plenty of opportunities to test the opposing goaltender, given how shaky the Canucks have been defensively all season long.
Granlund has recorded two or more shots in three of his last four appearances and in eight of his last 10, averaging 2.6 shots per game over that span.
Vancouver Canucks vs Anaheim Ducks Same Game Parlay
- SGP: Over 5.5 total goals + Mikael Granlund over 0.5 points + Cutter Gauthier over 0.5 points
It’d be absolutely shocking if this clash doesn’t produce at least six goals, with an even higher total very much on the table. After all, these are the two worst defences in the NHL in terms of goals allowed per game, with the Ducks ranking 31st (3.55) and the Canucks 32nd.
The visitors should win rather comfortably, so we’re completing our three-leg parlay with two Anaheim players finding a way to crack the scoresheet.
MIKAEL GRANLUND 😳
Tough to shoot the puck much better than that! pic.twitter.com/LNRN5VzCzF

The first one is Granlund, who recorded a hat trick in the loss to the Oilers on Monday and has notched six points over his last three outings (three goals, three assists).
The final leg is over 0.5 points for Cutter Gauthier. The promising 22-year-old winger has been the Ducks’ best player in recent encounters and has been extremely consistent as well.
He’s riding a five-game point streak after notching a power-play assist in the loss to the Oilers and has totalled seven points (three goals, four helpers) over that span.
Vancouver Canucks vs Anaheim Ducks Team News
Vancouver Canucks Team News
The Canucks will be without several players for this contest, and one of the most notable absences will be Brock Boeser. The right winger is dealing with a concussion and won’t return until next week at the earliest. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s held out until after the Olympic break just to ensure a full recovery.
Other absentees include centre Marco Rossi (lower body) and defencemen Guillaume Brisebois (lower body), Zeev Buium (face), and Derek Forbort (undisclosed). The three blueliners will be out until February.
Goaltender Thatcher Demko is also sidelined, but this time, he’ll undergo a season-ending surgery due to a hip problem. That means Kevin Lankinen will be the Canucks’ No. 1 goaltender going forward.
Anaheim Ducks Team News
The Ducks will evaluate Mason McTavish ahead of this matchup, as the centre is listed day-to-day with an upper-body injury that has kept him out for the last four games. Troy Terry (upper body) is on the injured list but will be reevaluated before Thursday’s contest.
Leo Carlsson (thigh) isn’t ready to return and won’t be back until after the Olympic break. The same goes for winger Frank Vatrano (shoulder) and goaltender Petr Mrazek (lower body). The absence of Mrazek means Ville Husso will continue as the backup and No. 2 goaltender behind Lukas Dostal.
