The roadshow rolls on as the 2026 BetMGM Premier League Darts heads to Glasgow after two box office rounds already. Mighty Michael van Gerwen has already won one night and reached the final in the other as the Dutchman continues to return to his old form. Can he extend his lead at the top of the table?
Night 3 takes place on Thursday 19th February, with the action getting underway at 7pm GMT. As ever, Irish fans can catch every dart live on Sky Sports, while live streams will also be available through the PDC’s official digital platforms.
With the league phase so short and every nightly title worth five points, there is little room for error, and we’re set to witness more fireworks and shock results in Glasgow this week.
Recap so far
The season kicked off in style in Newcastle on 5th February. Former Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen captured the first night’s bragging rights with a 6-4 victory over fellow Dutchman Gian van Veen in the final.
Van Gerwen, who has seven Premier League titles to his name already, has looked incredibly sharp throughout the opening two rounds. He’s used all of his experience and heavy scoring to power past opponents – including current champion Luke Humphries in the semis.
Debutant Van Veen also impressed, knocking out former World Champion Luke Littler in the quarter-finals before falling in the final. And so, after the opening night, Van Gerwen sat top of the tree, with Van Veen in second, and both Humphries and Jonny Clayton close behind.
From Newcastle to Antwerp on 12th February, Van Gerwen once again reached the final only to be stunned 6-3 by Gerwyn Price. The match of the night, however, belonged to the two Lukes in the quarter-finals as Littler edged out Humphries 6-5 in a thriller.
Once again, though, Van Gerwen continued to find form with a comprehensive 6-2 win over Josh Rock, before knocking out Littler 6-4 in the semis.
However, Price defeated Van Veen and then Jonny Clayton in the semi-final before beating Van Gerwen 6-3, securing his first Premier League win in 2026. Across both nights, the scoring levels have already been elite, with 100 averages across the board, making it one of the most competitive starts to the campaign ever.
So, what does that mean heading into round three?
After two weeks, the standings are beginning to shape up but remain open. Van Gerwen leads, while Price sits close behind following his triumph in Antwerp. However, both Littler and Humphries have shown enough flashes to suggest that their best days are ahead in this league phase.
There’s also the sense of rivalry intensifying already. Littler is pushing back against the crowds, Price is staking his claim as a consistent threat, and, of course, Van Gerwen continues to show that there’s plenty of fight – and quality – left in him.
Players to watch
Michael van Gerwen
We have little choice but to start with Van Gerwen, who has been on it since the first dart was thrown. When the Dutchman’s doubles are on point, everyone, including Littler, are under serious threat.
And while his scoring has been high, even when it drops during certain legs, his experience managing the board, switching to 19s, and intelligence will carry him far.
His checkout percentage in deciding legs has been among the best in the Premier League – and in shorter formats, this is key. If he can challenge once again in Glasgow, Van Gerwen can make a serious statement to those in and around him that his time is far from over.
Gerwyn Price
Another player who is impossible to rule out is The Iceman. Price thrives on intensity – and other players often struggle to match his intimidating approach to the sport – as well as his high scoring. The short, sharp Premier League format certainly suits his explosive style.
If he sharpens up on tops and double 10s, he is more than capable of beating anyone, as we saw in Antwerp. Consistency is key when it comes to darts, but when Price is in full flow, the Welshman thrives on stage and is hard to beat.
Luke Littler
It feels strange to talk about Littler as anything other than a favourite now. His ability to string together three or four maximums in the blink of an eye changes the maths of a leg instantly. What has stood out in the first two weeks is not just his scoring, but also his improved composure on combination finishes.
However, not many would have expected Luke “The Nuke” Littler to have not won either of his two opening nights. There will be plenty of pressure on the world champion to deliver, and although he’s fully capable, he’ll be feeling the pressure in Glasgow, especially if the crowd goes against him.
Expert prediction
With two nights of evidence behind us, patterns are starting to form – and so our experts have compiled their best betting angles for Night 3 in Glasgow.
Match winner angles
Stephen Bunting and Gian van Veen kick off the card, but it’s no surprise to see the Dutchman odds-on favourite at 2/5 to breeze into the semi-finals. Bunting has yet to find any kind of form on the big stage, and the debutant can take full advantage. Having reached one final already, any nerves have long gone – and the pressure is firmly on Bunting to deliver.
Back Gian van Veen to beat Stephen Bunting at 2/5.
Next up, Luke Humphries vs Josh Rock. Another huge clash, but one where the odds-on favourite once again looks appealing. Humphries hasn’t got up and running yet, but neither has Rock, and the champion certainly showed in the first two rounds that he’s a cut above. This looks like his kind of match – one that will be played at a fast pace – and he can make it to the semi-finals alongside Van Veen.
Back Luke Humphries to beat Josh Rock at 8/15.
An all-Welsh clash wraps up the quarter-finals as Clayton takes on Night 2 winner Price. Price is 8/13 to win – and it’s hard to argue with yet another favourite coming out on top.
Not only was he excellent in Antwerp, but his recent record against his World Cup teammate has also been flawless, having won the last 10 head-to-heads stretching back to 2023. Matches have often been tight, but Price knows when to land the sucker punch and he’ll be in the mood to protect his win from last week.
Back Gerwyn Price to beat Jonny Clayton at 8/13.
Outright Night 3 winner
Michael van Gerwen is surprisingly still one of the outsiders to win for a second time and reach the final for three consecutive nights.
Priced at 9/1, the Dutchman is a great each-way bet to disrupt those at the top of the market, especially considering the way that he’s throwing at present.
He faces Littler in the opening round, but he isn’t at his best and will be feeling the pressure to not go three nights in a row without reaching a final – or winning, for that matter. Price at 11/2 will also be popular, but Van Gerwen has continued to impress and his massive price simply cannot be passed over at this stage.
Back Michael van Gerwen at 9/1 each way to win night three.
